CMR loves Father Frank Pavone, the head of Priests for Life. So you can guess we’re a little disturbed about this story that will soon be the talk of the Catholic blogosphere.
Fr. Pavone has reportedly been suspended from active ministry outside the Diocese of Amarillo, Texas, over financial questions about his operation of Priests for Life.
I know some folks are doing some pretty heavy lifting on this story right now and we’ll be watching for new revelations on this story.
But New Advent is running this story on the head banner so check it out over there.
Update: The bishop’s letter is out. And it’s SCATHING!
Couple of quotes to show how hot this has gotten. Bishop Patrick J. Zurek references “Father Pavone’s incorrigible defiance to my legitimate authority as his Bishop” and says “I would venture to say that the supreme importance that he has attributed to his PFL ministry and the reductionist attitude toward the diocesan priesthood has inflated his ego with a sense of self-importance and self-determination. This attitude has strained his relationship with me and has give me the impression that I cannot invoke obedience with him because he is famous.”
Ouch. You can read the whole thing at The Anchoress.
