These are some of the pictures taken yesterday on Good Friday at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Eastport, NY. If I didn’t have a wicked slice, I could hit a golf ball from my backyard to where these photos were taken. All Long Islanders are blessed to have such a place in their backyards. Anyway, my wife, brother in law, my four kids, and I did the quarter mile long stations of the Cross at the shrine for Good Friday. My 18 month old and the 3 yr. old did not seem to get the full impact (Go figure?). The 5 & 6 yr. olds did a great job on the prayers and asked really good questions about the passion. I think these things really stay with the kids.
Fr. Roy Tvrdik, the director of the shrine run by the Montfort Missionaries, told me that thousands of people prayed the stations there yesterday.
