The long-awaited Motu Proprio next Monday
Mass in Latin: Tradition returns
The long-awaited papal “Motu Proprio” on the recovery of the pre-Conciliar Mass in the Latin has been ready for a while, but its publication, foreseen at first for before Easter, will slide instead till after 16 April, the day of the 80th Birthday of Benedict XVI. As this article is a bit ambiguous, I remain hopeful but skeptical. Essentially the article says the it won’t come this week. Since the Pope is at Castel Gandolfo this week, that is for sure. But the mention the date of April 16 at all and the headline definitely seems to convey that it is “imminent”. Then again, we have been here before. If this is true, some corroboration should be forthcoming.
