Make believe presidential candidate and reality television personality Donald Trump is making news again -this time by talking about the issue of gay marriage. I’m not sure what it is he’s saying here but this, I’m pretty sure, accurately reflects the depth of thought he’s given to the big issues facing this country.
Trump compared gay marriage to the long putters that are becoming popular in golf.
“It’s like in golf,” he said. “A lot of people—I don’t want this to sound trivial—but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive,” said Mr. Trump, a Republican. “It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
What? I think gay people are the long putters in this metaphor. (Do you know how many off-color jokes are in my head right now?)
This guy is making Mitch “The Truce” Daniels look good to me. And I didn’t think that was possible. But in truth it doesn’t really matter what Trump thinks of gay marriage. I think everyone has figured out that Trump isn’t serious about making a run at the presidency. Including Trump.
