Getting ready for Father’s Day, this video should be a cautionary tale about what not to do. There may be worse fathers whose bad-Dad-ness was televised nationally but I can’t think of any.
And to make it worse the guy didn’t even make the catch. He dropped his daughter AND THE BALL!!!!
And just so this doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth, here’s one of my favorite videos of one of the best Dads. evah. Guy’s daughter throws a foul ball back into play and he just laughs and hugs her. Good guy.

Well….the ball would've hit her straight on and hurt her. I think it was a split second decision and a tough one at that. 🙂

1. It is not at all clear from the video that the ball would have hit the girl.
2. If it had looked like it was going to, the instinctive thing for a father to do (I am one, and have been in a similar situation, so I know) would have been to pivot to get her out of the way, even if it meant getting hit himself.
That said, the guy is amply punished by being immortalized as a jerk.

I'd have done the same thing. I have 4 kids, but a chance to catch a ball could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

See, this is why I go to soccer games rather than baseball. You don't get to keep errant soccer balls, so there is no real incentive to try to catch one. You just parry them away (using your child, of course).

Children shouldn't be at baseball games.

Hahaha! the worst thing isn't that he drops her, but that he notices only after he has failed to catch te ball. The second videonis hillarious, the girl just throws the ball back 😛
