It’s being reported that animal rights activists are behind the burning of cattle trucks at Harris Farms in western Fresno County early Sunday, according to a news report.

The fire, which heavily damaged 14 tractors and several cattle-hauling trailers, was set and says the attack was aimed at “the horrors of factory farming.”

Harris Farms CEO and Chairman John Harris said in an email that he and others with the ranch are “appalled by this senseless, but very alarming attack.” He called it a terrorist action.

I’m thinking that this anti-farm violence should inspire an entire cadre of new laws that would limit the freedoms of animal rights activists. I want bubble zones around farms. RICO statues should be brought into this too. Any animal rights supporters who come within fifteen feet of fifteen feet of a farm must be prosecuted. And any animal rights folks that try to even speak to a farmer or anyone who works on a farm should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And how about a statement from the White House. And what about DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano putting out a report saying authorities should watch out for animal rights activists.

So far, I’m not seeing any of it. Heck, even the media doesn’t seem all that interested.

Exit thought: Hey why do they get to be called animal rights activists instead of anti-farm activists. I mean, we’re called anti-abortion activists. I think it would be much better to be called baby rights activists, don’t you think? Liberals get all the cool names.

The cool people just like them better. I mean, after all, the animal rights folks protect little cute animals why we’re just protecting little human beings.
