"You spelled my name wrong"
This was perfect. He was honest in returning the glasses, and honest in pointing out the spelling error.
And it humorously adds just a little uncertainty about his humility. He did not heroically risk his life saving a drowning child: he picked up a pair of lost glasses and turned them in to a lost-and-found booth. In the face of such absurd publicity and overblown celebration, the normal reaction is either embarrassment or laughter. Does it really matter if they spell your name right? Maybe it does. If you are going to put my name up in lights, you may as well spell it right.
