The Associated press style guide is the go-to for most newspapers. They are now instructing journalists not to use the term “crisis pregnancy center” and use the term “anti-abortion center.”

This makes it seem as if abortion were the natural consequence of a pregnancy, rather than a birth. This also makes it seem as if the crisis pregnancy center weren’t aiding poor women in crisis with their pregnancy, which is exactly what they’re doing.

This is also ironic because pro-life clinics will now be called “anti-abortion centers” but clinics that perform abortions will not be called “abortion centers” but “women’s reproductive clinics” or some such phrase meant to conceal what it is they do. It’s funny because none of these abortion clinics actually use the term abortion but the pro-lifers MUST be called anti-abortion.

CPC’s support women materially, emotionally, and physically. Abortion clinics do one thing. They kill. That’s it.

Nomenclature is a major part of the battle. The AP knows this. The left knows this. These people will stop at nothing. God help us.

Daily Signal:

The Associated Press added an entry to its style guide directing journalists to put the term “crisis pregnancy center” in scare-quotes, and to use “anti-abortion center” instead, to convey that “the centers’ general aim is to prevent abortions.”

The AP added this entry between Nov. 20 and Nov. 27, 2022, according to The Daily Signal’s search of the Wayback Machine. The guide describes the centers as “set up to divert or discourage women from having abortions” and warns writers against “potentially misleading terms” like “pregnancy resource centers or pregnancy counseling centers.”

“If using the term anti-abortion center, explain later that these often are known as ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ (with quotation marks) and that their aim is to dissuade people from getting an abortion,” the style guide entry states.
