Now that we have mass market advertising, we don’t need actual graces.
They used to come down from Heaven in floods in response to Ember Days, novenas, Forty Hour devotions..and the day to day disciplined, holy life led by Catholics.
Time was when we abstained from meat religiously every Friday, and fasted completely after Midnight from all food AND water before receiving Holy Communion…even at the 10 o’clock or 11:30 Mass
Is it not fair to say that we are on the whole a distracted, unrecollected and self-indulgent lot? Myself included, of course.
Scuse me, I’ve got to continue my apostolate of surfing the net….
It’s nice to think that somewhere, someone is praying and doing penance for my sins- if they are.

Gotta love it. Great take-off on the original and real respect for the sacrament. Beautiful.

Eh? DGS are you serious? This is terrible. If I had a big stick I’d be sorely tempted to beat this guy off the telly. This is awful, simply awful.

I thought this video was great. The priest really captured the mannerisms of “Vince” in the “ShamWow!” commercial. (Of course, anyone who hasn’t seen the original “ShamWow!” commercial wouldn’t get this video at all.)
But what I really thought was awesome was that apparently *every* Catholic church in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island offered the Sacrament of Reconciliation for six hours straight on that particular day! That shows a great coordinated effort, and great dedication by the priests in the diocese(s).
Overall, this was really awesome!
