As Iran gets closer and closer to a nuclear weapon and test fires missiles that could reach Israel, Barack Obama does nothing. Worse, he has tried to tie the hands of our ally Israel while they face mortal peril. Obama’s promise of hope has exploded. I hope that Israel will not share the same fate.
The Explosion of Hope

Just for the record, which of these assertions are “crazy?”
1] That warmongers lied to us about WMD’s before, and so (maybe) next time we should be more careful.
2] That the Republican coalition that put over the invasion of Irak is dominated by American partisans for Israel who are hoping to prop up the Zionist state, big money and oil interests who are trying to secure our oil supply in a time of falling world production, and Evangelical Christians who are hoping that by jimmying things in the Near East they can bring about the Second Coming.
3] That imperialism is morally unjustifiable.
4] That imperialism can only succeed through violence.
5] That the demographics of Israel foretell its doom.
6] That it is a common fallacious argument (argumentum ad hominem) to attack a someone personally when you cannot attack his reasoning.

Maybe it's
7] The breathless "I see a moustache-and-yarmulke-twirling villain behind everything" tone of everything you say.

J – this is not Dutchman. I'm a separate poster altogether. I agree with what he is saying. You and other brainless automatons think that any criticism of Israel means we must be anti-Semitic. I don't know if you are Catholic or not, but the Pope and the church has often criticized Israel for their policies and actions against the (Christian) Palestinians.
You are taking a very tedious but all-too-common stance of "Israel can do no wrong" fostered by the heretic evangelicals of this country. Try opening your eyes and you may actually wake up long enough to look at the situation rationally. Then again, it might actually force you to think and make some hard decisions, so you might be more comfortable in your docility. I think that's just human nature.

Not Dutchman,
See, before you and Looney Tunes came along, I was quite ready to say that sabre rattling with Iran is not a good idea. You'll notice there isn't a single instance of "Israel can do no wrong" in what I said.
But then you showed up with your black helicopter pissery about the Evil Zionists Who Control The World and Heretic Evangelicals, and you assumed that anyone who doesn't subscribe to your particular brand of bigoted lunacy is against you. Fine. But don't be surprised if people think you're crazy. Because you are.

Yeah, once again, you're an idiot and have a foul mouth to boot. I never said "evil" Zionists, controling the world, black helicopters etc. Either you are confusing Dutchman with my post, or you are even more stupid than you previously let on (and believe me, you already looked very stupid).
So, if you're not referring to me, then instead of calling Dutchman crazy, why not actually trying to refute what he says? Or are you really to stupid to form a coherent argument? My money says you are at this point.
Note to blog owners: I'm using "stupid" in place of "crazy" to make a point here. When people like J Christian bring the conversation down to ad hominem it suits no one.

"Anti-Semite!"
There's another of those words that people use to dismiss an argument rather than refute it. (A few others are: "racist," "homophobe," and "religious bigot.")
Are you REALLY going to deny that there is a large group of pro-Israel voters in this country and that BOTH parties don't cater to them? (Poling data clearly shows a shift of traditionally Democratic Jewish voters to the Republican party since the Gulf War. Causality, anyone?)
Okay, for the record, I really don't care that the Zionists occupied Palestine, I just think they can't pull it off in the long run. If I were President of the United States I would offer US citizenship to every Israeli Jew IF they would abandon the Zionist adventure, close shop, and turn Palestine over to the Arabs. Frederick of Prussia invited the Hugenots (another highly talented religious minority) into his country on much the same basis and scored quite a success with it.

Dutchmen – now there you lost me. I think the current occupants of Israel have the right to be there (be they Jewish, Armenian or Arab). I DON'T think the current government has done anywhere near a decent job at creating or administering a society that can accomodate any sort of true pluralism or democracy. IMHO Jerusalem, and quite possibly Israel as a whole should be administered internationally. The only time there was real peace ther was when it was administered by the British. So, it seems to me there needs to be a separate entity to keep things running and functioning. But I honestly think the Jewish people have a right to be there as much as anyone else living there.
And FYI, many of them DO have American (or British) citizenship already.
