Truth be told, I do not give much consideration to the sensitivities of others. While I accept that sometimes you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, I also think its a good thing when the jars of honey and vinegar are labeled correctly.
I prefer sharp lines and clear distinctions. That is my nature. As anyone who knows me or anyone who regular reads me can tell you, I don’t much mind confrontation either. And feelings get hurt sometimes, after all that is what they are there for.
All this preamble is intended to convince you of my bona fides when it comes to tactics of a more aggressive nature when trying to make a point. Why? Because these people are off their rocker.

Burn baby burn? No. Take a tip from modern urban society where recycling is the norm. Recycle these korans. Sort of like when Hagia Sophia was recycled into the Ayasofya Mosque. Recycle. That is the best idea.

This is old news. Check the date: it's from last month. That being said, while I DO think the Qur'an SHOULD be burnt, I will never give a fundie ANY legitimacy by participating in his stupidity.
Thinking a Qur'an should be burnt and doing so are two separate things. As a true Christian (i.e. not a one-off sect) I realize there are many MANY other true Christians living in Mohammedan lands (Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan, Iran etc) that are in harm's way DAILY due to the fact that they live under Shari'a law. Meaning, while it may make you warm and fuzzy to burn a Qur'an, it can bring nothing good to our bretheren suffering under it.
Bottom line: this guy is a fundie heretic loon.

Unless one is a member of the original primitive church at Jerusalem, then regardless of what church one might be a member of, one is a member of a one-off sect. The good folks at Antioch, etc. were certainly in every way legitimate far before any beginning of Christian witness reached Europe.
Early Christians lived out their faith in Christ in the midst of a pluralistic and even violently hostile context. Nevertheless they not only openly confessed their evil but burned the scrolls that pertained to their prior evil way of life. The cost was significant. Their identification with Christ in such a public manner was done so at great risk as demonstrated by persecution that followed.

BThomas – wrong. You obviously don't understand the concept of apostolic succession, and I'm not going to attempt to explain it here. Suffice it to say, only the heirs to the church which began at Pentecost with legitimate apostolic succession are true Christian churches. Those created by men are one-off sects.
I am aware of the history of book-burning, and as I stated, I personally believe burning a Qur'an is A-OK per se. But I also realize there are consequences. And I don't believe the benefit of publicly burning a Qur'an is worth the consequences of a mass Qur'an burning (namely the danger to Christian communities in Mohammedan lands). Are you arguing that a mass burning would bring some benefit that is greater than the cost of innocent human life and other reprocussions in far off lands to follow? If so, please explain.
It's one thing to burn a Qur'an in the comfort of the US, but quite another to live in an openly hostile country surrounded by evil Mohammedans who are ready to take any excuse to rape/kill you and your family and take your possessions.

I'm against Islam. As Catholics, we must bring Islam down to its knees! This is why I'm against allowing mosques to be built in our Christian nation! U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A.!

Pat, are you sure that Christ didn't have brass knuckles? I wish I had gotten the non-Italian version of Douay-Rheims:)
We can't burn the Koran…That puts us right at the level of despicable of burning the Book of Mormon in protest of Prop 8 some years back. Some older folks might remember that upheaval, although that's been overturned…Hmmm….

Patty – the book of Mormon should be burnt as well. It is an enormously evil book. It is blasphemous and defames Our Lord in so many ways it's unimagineable unless you have read it (and it's a total snoozer, too).
