So far I have not been able to find online the remarks of Cardinal Dolan, but I promise I will add them when they are available.

Our friend Tom Peters was there tonight for which we are profoundly jealous, so we must post video. I will note that we were invited but Mitt’s security detail read our primary posts and denied us clearance.
So to it.
Romney.
Obama
My judgement on these matter is compromised since I clearly dislkie one candidate but despise the other. We report. You decide.

After watching both videos I have to conclude that I simply can't even conceive anymore of Cardinal Dolan NOT inviting both candidates. It truly seemed like a special night.

Anyone know where Michelle was? She didn't, instead, prefer to stay home with her children, have dinner with them, help with homework, and get them to bed, did she???

Funny how some "catholics" like "Catholic Vote" get to use "catholic" in their name and get to attend and video the Al Smith dinner and other "catholics" get Peters' dad blogging about how canonically they can't use "Catholic" in their name… and another 3,400 babies were murdered in the U.S. today

I think everyone needs to watch the Vortex on this. As usual, he doesn't mince words. But I must agree with him, as much as I thought both candidates were funny. But that's the point. Cdl. Dolan gave an opportunity for Catholics to feel good about voting for Pres. Obama. And it is interesting who is behind this dinner – big money men, all Obama and Democratic supporters. Babies die and souls go to hell.

Why was an anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic, pro-murdering babies individual invited? This admittedly unsophisticated layman wonders about the leadership of the Church. What will critics of the Church say in fifty years when they use against the faithful this photograph of a cardinal yucking in up with a man who encourages murder?

Sorry to say, Cardinal Dolan has lost my respect when he decided to go through with this. Here he is suing the gov. for the oppressive HHS Mandate, and inviting the guy who started the whole thing and refused to negotiate with the Bishops. HYPOCRISY at its finest.

For everyone who had doubts about Cardinal Dolan inviting Obama to the Al Smith Dinner, their fears were confirmed by the Cardinal's speech. I watched the whole thing on C-SPAN–not just the closing remarks. He joked about Biden and Ryan being under the larger tent of the Catholic Church. At one point, he even raised his hands and applauded in the President's direction. He had some positive comments about Michelle's "healthy" school lunch program…..all the while, innocent lives were being lost. Gov. Romney was eloquent, humble and did not compromise his beliefs. Cardinal Dolan's remarks were pathetic and VERY DISAPPOINTING–he has a lot to learn from the Mormon.
