CNN has a message for all you evangelical bigots out there, ‘Don’t vote this year because Romney is a Mormon and you hate Mormons, ‘member?’
This is the lead story at CNN.com as of this writing:
This is as disgusting as it is stupid. Evangelicals will not cut off their collective noses to spite their face. Mission numero uno, stop Barack Obama. If it takes voting for a Mormon to do it, I would vote for Marie Osmond if that is what it took.
A new low for CNN, encouraging bigotry to suppress the Christian vote. Remember, with these people the end always justifies the means.

I get your point, but I think you're way overreacting here. The headline is an attempt to summarize in a few words THIS particular undecided voter's dilemma — he can't vote for Obama but he can't quite endorse Romney either, so he personally is wondering whether not voting is his best option. I would not jump to the conclusion that this is "endorsing bigotry" against evangelical Christians.

Last April, Marie Osmond said she would “rather have food poisoning” than publicly endorse President Barack Obama or GOP frontrunner former Governor Mitt Romney.

The ad is appealing to the historical bias that most evangelicals have against Mormons. I'm voting for Romney, but with grave reservations. I don't trust the Mormons because of their bloody and crooked history. I'm going to watch this man like a hawk when he gets in, because the cult he belongs to has a thing called the White Horse prophecy. That prophecy says the Mormon church will 'save' the constitution and the USA from destruction. Question: do we really want Mormon style salvation?

It's not bigoted not to vote for a Mormon because he is Mormon. It may very well be prudent and done for a love of souls. A Romney presidency will and already has confused an already confused nation about the nature of Christianity and the path to salvation. I already hear faithful Catholics talking about Romney being a faithful, God-fearing man. Our political discourse is already completely confused, and this will only further confuse our religious discourse. With that said, I voted for Romney, though reluctantly for those reasons.

@joe: Romney's suitability (or lack thereof) for the office has nothing to do with Catholics being uninformed on Mormonism.
A Mormon is a type of Christian-influenced, non-Manichean Gnostic, like Freemasons and Hermetic alchemists. Probably the majority of our presidents have been members of some such Gnostic group, including most of the founding fathers.
