I have seen some bad vestments over the years, but the vestments of Fr. Humberto Alvarez are the superheroes of stupid.
Mexican Priest, Fr. Humberto Alvarez, wears vestments with the pictures, emblems, and logos of comic book superheroes.
I am sick to death with the foolish notion that to attract children to Jesus that you need to obscure Jesus with such nonsense. I don’t know if there is a canon law forbidding such idiocy, but there should be.
But guess what, it gets worse. Fr. Alvarez uses a machine gun water pistol to shoot holy water. I am not kidding.
What do you think of Fr. Alvarez’s antics?

Well, I hope that the new pope will not be from Latin America because if their priests can do such stupid things at liturgy it means that bishops: 1. do not have a proper influence or 2. they are the same.

@Tine: the big problem in Latin America is Liberation Theology. This kind of thing is far more prevalent in America and Europe than it is there.
An Asian or an African is, IMO, the best choice, although obviously the candidates have to be evaluated individually. The German clergy are, overall, a mess, but Benedict has been a good Pope.
