September Morn
Since we are only nine days away from the implementation of the motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, I decided a song was needed to celebrate the occasion.
Now, when you read this, I want you to promise me that you will hear in your head Neil Diamond in all his crazy glory. Promise me. OK. With that done, here it is:
Pray for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
Its been so long, I hardly knew you
Kneeling in the nave
Stay with me a while
I only want to chant with you
We’ve waited forty years, banality unfurled
To find ourselves again
September morn
We prayed until the night became a brand new day
No longer needing indulgence from
Ecclesia Dei
September morning soon will make me feel this way
Look at what they’ve done
Why, you’ve become a mixed-up whirl
The Lord has heard us cryin’
The Pope said let’s make room
So look how far we’ve come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we’ve forgotten
How it was before
September morn
We prayed until the night became a brand new day
No longer needing indulgence from
Ecclesia Dei
September morning soon will make me feel this way
