I am glad I do not live in Massachusetts, for if I did, my only options would be to move to a different state or home-school my children. Unfortunately, this type of retreat would accomplish little. The battle is joined and we are losing.
The Massachusetts supreme court has upheld a lower court ruling that stated that school districts had no obligation to inform parents of curriculum that indoctrinates children with the belief that gay ‘marriage’ is fine and dandy. What is worse, even if the parents know about it, they have no right to opt their children out of the lessons. From Lifesite:
The three judge panel ruled that a lower court decision was correct when it denied parents the right to remove their children from such classes, while admitting that the purpose of the literature to which their children were being exposed was to influence children to “tolerate” gay marriage.
“It is a fair inference that the reading of King and King was precisely intended to influence the listening children toward tolerance of gay marriage,” the court admits. “That was the point of why that book was chosen and used.”
The families who brought the lawsuit vow to go all the way to the U.S. Supreme court. Unfortunately, retreat into homeschooling is no answer for the onslaught will not stop in the schools. It is already beginning in other areas that may not be so visible yet, but will be.
This debate is the spear point of a movement to eliminate any public exercise or recognition of religion. Knights of Columbus halls and Parish Halls will be sued to to force them to allow same sex celebrations or close their doors. The legal right to marry will be removed from any denomination that refuses to recognize same sex marriages. Eventually, publicly opposing homosexual acts and same sex marriage and proclaiming the Church’s teaching will be considered a “hate crime.’
This is why this debate matters. This is a crucial battle over the rights of religious belief in the public sphere. Make no mistake, it is a battle and we are losing.

The Public Schools have always been seedbeds for social engineering; with those in charge of the curriculum being the puppet masters of that engineering. Compulsory “free” public education has a long history of this.
There was an old quote, and I can’t find who said it, but it goes …give me a chilled until he is Seven, and “I’ll have him the rest of his life.” Certainly Stalin, Mao, and Hitler believed this quote, and created very powerful indoctrination/inculcation systems to shape their young minds.
This happened, and is happening on these shores too. I remember reading that this is one of the major reasons Catholic immigrants created parallel education systems very early on, because the entrenched Protestant culture of America at that time were taking the opportunity to get their hands on the minds of these immigrant children and attempting to turn them into Protestants; much to the chagrin of their parents.
And, as we have seen, the story is the same, but just different characters. If you want to see where we will be in 10 years, just look at Canada. In 20 years or so, those who have not been indoctrinated as youths, we will all be carted off to Maoist re-education camps for “hate crimes”
What I find more galling, and worrisome, is that this infection has migrated into the Parochial school systems, and for the most part, the Catholic Higher education system is a lost cause (this has been the subject of this blog on more than one occasion). This is the real frightening issue, and should be the focus of our attention.

You’re correct that homeschooling does not solve the larger problem, but at the same time, I don’t have to leave my kids in public schools until the fight is won.

Patrick, great post. I honestly don’t know why more people aren’t raising their voices against gay marriage–is it because we’ve already been indoctrinated to believe that public opposition is bigotry?
And Paul, I agree. We have to fight this battle on all fronts; but a huge part of the fight is standing by our determination to keep our children from being part of the huge social experiment underway to mainstream and normalize sexual perversion in all its forms, also know as public education.

Anonymous, the actual saying is, “Give me the child until he is seven and I will give you the man.” It is attributed to none other than St. Francis Xavier, founder of the Jesuits. Still, I have no doubts Stalin, Mao and Hitler were aware of it and appropriated it for their own use, as was their wont; the veracity of it is indisputable.

In my humble opinion, we will lose this battle, though I could be wrong.
Unless our society decays and falls, confidence and pride in new technologies and “social progress” will continue to expand, unchecked by anything. This pride is an immediate threat to all of humanity, especially our more vulnerable brethren who live in the third-world.
What we need is a fall of modern civilization so great, that it will shock and ashame all the peoples of the world for thousands of generations.
Before Christendom can return to all its vigor and life, “faith in progress” must be shaken to the core and exposed as the foolish illusion it truly is.
I believe that God is judging America and Europe for their atrocities, such as abandoning the Church of Christ, fragmenting the Christians, and using religion as a means for questionable political ends.
For several centuries now, man has violently asserted his own autonomy from all things. He has torn kings from their thrones, and enshrined democracy as a god, a cult of selfish pleasures. Truth means nothing to him. Man now worships practicality, because practicality leads to worldly pleasures.
The time of reckoning is at hand. Our civilization is being judged. Our wicked, erotic orgasms of self-adoration and our denial of God condemn us. We shall drown in our own semen. And what a fitting punishment this is, in light of our crimes. Its irony is profound.
Thus, God will permit a coming persecution, so that in the long run, we shall be strengthened.
Our civilization will fall the same way as all the others have: by mistaking our flesh for a god.
