A federal panel has just approved recommendations that boys as young as 9 years old (nine!) be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted disease.
Atlanta (CNN) — A federal government advisory committee voted Tuesday to recommend that boys as young as 11 be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus, commonly referred to as HPV.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) says the vaccine series can be started as early as age 9.
Twelve members of the committee voted in favor of the recommendation; one abstained.
HPV is the number-one sexually transmitted disease in the United States. At least 50% of sexually active people will get it at some point in their lives.
The HPV vote took place as part of the advisory committee’s meeting in Atlanta.
Of course, they have been pushing this for girls for years even going so far in some place to mandate it. But they haven’t gotten the buy in they want so now they are targeting boys.
I have boys 10, 8, and 6. And just so there is no ambiguity. Over. My. Dead. Body.
I love my boys. I want the best for my boys. And if some one trys to stick them for STDs, if someone even talks to them about STDs, I am gonna knock their teeth out.
Just so we are clear.

He's not blowing smoke, and I don't really see him as being as rude as everyone else seems to think.
Then how would you characterize conflating hepatitis B and mumps with an STD, accusing those who disagree with you of mental disorders ("vaccine-phobic"), accusing those who disagree with you of ignorance and conflating preventing an STD with "protecting a child against cancer"?

According to the CDC, Hep B is spread through the exchange of body fluids usually through sexual contact or needles, like HIV or many STDs.
The CDC website is very handy and informative. I would encourage anyone who would like accurate information to avail themselves of this resource.

I pointed that out about 24 hours ago. STD means that it's transmitted by sex, not that sex is one of multiple vectors.
Let me quote the CDC:Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It ranges in severity from a mild illness, lasting a few weeks (acute), to a serious long-term (chronic) illness that can lead to liver disease or liver cancer.
Contrast with the description of HPV:
Human papillomavirus (pap-ah-LO-mah-VYE-rus) (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted virus in the United States. At least 50% of sexually active people will have genital HPV at some time in their lives.

All viral Hepatitis including A, B and C are considered STDs by the CDC, as a cursory view would demonstrate and which is well known. Children are also vaccinated against Hep A by the 2nd grade. That means more smackdowns that Patrick is gonna have to give.

Gil,
Your seemingly unquestioning confidence in the accuracy and completeness of the CDC is rather puzzling, given that it (like all government-run organisations) is composed of fallible men and women (just as we are) who are often (and even usually) influenced by ideological/political bias… especially since the appointees (and subsequent new employees) are hand-picked by government officials who rarely lack such bias (e.g. pro-abortion, libertine in sexual ethics, etc.).
For example: have you noticed that the CDC describes the IUD, the so-called "morning-after pill", and oral contraceptives as "safe and highly effective methods of contraception", while another arm of the same government (i.e. the NIH) has categorized oral contraceptives as "known human carcinogens" since 2002?
By all means, do research on these types of issues; but I'd caution you against being so uncautious in your acceptance of anything on the web-page of the CDC, the NIH, or similar governmental sources. Aside from the mish-mash of contradictory definitions (often resulting from the decisions of many different administrations, from both the policical left and right), the categorizations of these governmental organisations cannot help but be subjective, biased, and often the result of naked ideological zeal. I'd direct you to the "redefinition" of homosexuality as a "non-disease" (on the basis of no research/studies whatsoever), the redefinition of "pregnancy" as "implantation" (of the unborn child) rather than conception (defying virtually every authoritative textbook on embryology), and the like, for just a few examples.

…You do understand that hepatitis A is transmitted mainly by food prepares not washing their hands after they go to the bathroom, right? And that hep C is specifically noted as being so rarely transmitted sexually that monogamous couples where one individual is infected do not need to use a condom?
A cursory viewing of the CDC links I posted–or actually reading the site on your own– would make it obvious that they put a link to all the hepatitis types because sex involves bodily fluids, not because it is an STD; actual STDs, such as gonorrhea, are specifically noted to be STDs on their fact sheets.

This will be my last post on this thread.
The CDC has an information page for STDs, here: http://www.cdc.gov/std/

Posted that. An hour ago.

The privileged patient-physician relationship is essential to the practice of medicine. Coercion to inflict the human papiloma virus vaccine on all minor children without parental consent is assault and battery by the government.
October 27, 2011 at 11:50 pm
The child, called an "infant" in a court of law cannot have informed consent to give until emancipation at eighteen years of age. For the court to usurp informed consent of the child to give to doctors, lawyers and abortionists and now, to adult/child sexual intercourse in the court in Baltimore Md. is criminal and violates the infant child's endowed unalienable rights.

Why vaccine if condoms work? If condoms cannot prevent HIV HPV and HERPES, why does the government keep insisting that condoms do?

Haven't there been about 26 deaths from Gardisil so far, that we know about? Are people so naive that they believe that if the CDC and the FDA "approve" something it is safe? The touted flu vaccine is full of mercury and people innoculated with Pneumovax die all the time from pneumonia. There is no earthly reason for innoculating a newborn with the Heb B series, the justification is that when they are sexually active they won't come back to the dr to get it…of course they do not guarantee it will last that long but who cares, it's just your kid. Pefectly good drugs like codiene and marijuana (including even INDUSTRIAL, non THC containing hemp products-which were a sustainable agricultural staple 200 years ago) are NOT approved by the state gatekeepers while expensive and untested chemical concoctions are shoved on us by Big Pharma using the thuggery of the state agencies working for them. BTW, isn't it JUST a little odd that the state will allow no private lab to perform the mandatory PKU testing at birth? Do you trust that the PKU cards, saturated with infant blood, are being destroyed and the state is not establishing a genetic database on every one of its human cattle? That these cards were being kept for that purpose was published in the newspaper in OH about 20 years ago…and then denied by state agents ever since. To the inevitable accusations of my being crazy and a conspiracy theorist I remind those so inclined to such ad hominems of the Tuskeegee airmen, documented experimentation on prison inmates, the CIA MK Ultra LSD experiments, the lobotomizing of the "mentally unfit", the endless parade of New! Improved! "educational" techniques tested and tried on captive school kids (dumbing them down)….rather than return to tried and true classical education.
