Thank Thank Thank God we have Cardinals like Cardinal Burke.
He says of Cardinal Kasper’s speech on the topic of admission of divroced/remarried to communion, “I trust that the error of his approach will become ever clearer.” We must pray he is right.

He is right.

UGH, God help us. Thank you dear Lord for the clarity of Cardinal Burke. Please dear Jesus raise up holy Cardinals, Bishops, and Priests that are clear in their speech and uphold the unwavering truths of our faith.

Amen! How terrible that he should stand out for speaking fundamental necessary truths of the Faith and of reason. Lord, protect Cardinal Burke, and grant us more holy bishops and priests.

Beautiful. But she's not a future mother to her child, she's been his mother from the moment he came into existence.

I saw the interview. Thank God for Cardinal Burke and holy bishops like him. Y'all do know we've always had bad bishops, right? Arius comes to mind.

36 years ago, I first looked into the most extraordinary face. The original Li'l Heart! The first who would open up a way for others to follow, when there was no way! We "blocked" the door open. The BVM gave me fair warning my life would never be the same again! Thank You, BVM and Thank You, Pat for posting! Happy Down's Syndrome Day. 😉

In fairness to bishops, Arius wasn't one of them.

I think Cardinal Burke will be in the minority come October. It would be surprising to me that the Holy Father would have Cardinal Kasper give his speech if he doesn't plan on making a change. Remember that there were cardinals opposed to Vatican II's changed teaching on religious liberty so there is precedent.

Old unmarried men judging the validity of other marriages and their faith. YUP SOUNDS TOTALLY VALID TO ME

One of the few Cardinals who cares more for souls than for the world's approval.

Not sure how being married is supposed to improve one's grasp of theology. Mine didn't get better the day I was married. In any case, we're talking about the teaching of Christ who wasn't married. Perhaps unmarried men have better insight by virtue of their closer imitation of Him.

Using your fecal logic, Elizabeth Taylor should have been a marriage counselor considering her vast experience on the subject never mind that all of her marriages were failures.
By the way, Christ was also unmarried and He had no trouble judging the validity of the six "marriages" of the Samaritan woman at the well.

The problem here is that while Cardinal Burke is correct that Walter Kasper is in error the point is the Pope liked his speech and I assume it was not about the idea of even trying to change the whole way these people are treated by the Church by annulments not by giving those in this situation Communion. It is true Benedict talked about this himself in the early seventies but as he become more prominent in the Curial and head of the CDF and than Pope even he said this can't be changed.

That the Pope gave Kasper such a keynote role, knowing it would lead to fog and confusion, is what I am concerned about.
That this issue has become a pivotal point too is concerning.
The Ope needs instead to be leaning hard into the formation the Church gives to adult, particularly adult men on married life….reminding them it involves sacrificing daily for their spouses and children, a very costly and holy offering to God.
If you substantially fix the leak first…40 years from now this will be a non problem.

You're trying to use reason and logic, but Generation Stewart isn't capable of thinking outside of snarky soundbites that they think totally decimate any argument.

You see: Our God is three Persons in one God. The Person cannot be removed from the public square without being convicted of a crime.
