So the “good news” is that the judge in the Charlie Gard case has appointed a doctor to come in and assess whether baby Charlie should die or not. This is receiving cheers from some. Not from me.

An American doctor who specializes in conditions such as that affecting Charlie Gard will be traveling to Britain next week to assess the critically ill baby.

High Court Judge Nicholas Francis said he is “open-minded about the evidence” to come after the visit of Dr. Michio Hirano of Columbia University. Hirano’s research focuses on mitochondrial diseases and genetic myopathies and he has treated others with conditions similar to that involving the 11-month-old. …

Hirano will meet with Charlie’s current immediate care team, together with other specialists, including a doctor from the Vatican children’s hospital.

“We’ll have to wait and see the evidence,” Judge Francis said. He promised to rule by July 25.

Doesn’t this feel like a head fake? The judge doesn’t want to be the guy to sentence a baby to death so he appoints a doctor to say it so that all the judges and bureaucrats who desperately want the government to have the right to remove people from life support BECAUSE THEY SAY SO will have cover. You see, it wasn’t us, it was a doctor! (We might call it a death panel of one.)

Charlie Gard is going to die very shortly. That’s what I think is going to happen. Too many powerful people want the government to have that right. Too many powerful people are looking down their nose at all these icky Christian types standing up for a baby again and they don’t want regular people having power. It’s a miracle at all that this became an issue that made the news. And that was only thanks to Pope Francis and President Trump. Otherwise, nobody outside the Christian blogosphere ghetto we exist in would’ve ever heard of Charlie Gard.

I am praying that things change but I’m expecting bad news. I’m so fed up with expecting bad news.
