There’s only one thing 99% of politicians understand and that’s power. Now, power has many subsets. But for our purposes here we’ll narrow is down to the currency of the realm we call D.C.

Money and votes. That’s it. They want the money but know they need to get the votes every two or six years in order to keep the money coming. Now, when it comes to the issue of life, we’re never going to be able to compete with the big money of the death industry. EMILY’s List and Planned Parenthood essentially are the Democrat Party at this point. As evidence, I ask you to recall that President Obama could have passed his Obamacare plan in 2009 but Bart Stupak, a Democrat, said no. Mind you, he wanted to pass Obamacare but knew his conservative district wouldn’t like it so he said no. Until about a year later, he said yes when Obama promised him not to fund abortion through Obamacare; an executive action. I’m assuming Stupak thought the promise would give him the cover he needed. It didn’t. Why? Because now, he didn’t have the support of the Democrats or the death industry because of his year-long holdout or pro-life support because of his cave. No money. No votes. So he bailed.

But the point is that Obama could’ve passed his signature legislation a year earlier if he’d agreed to prohibit abortion funding in the legislation itself. That’s a clear indication of how central abortion is to the modern Democrat party.

So what to do about yesterday’s Democrat filibuster of common sense legislation to prohibit abortion after twenty weeks (when babies in the womb can feel pain)? Locate those politicians who voted against the legislation and spend money to convince voters to evict them from the halls of power.

The Susan B. Anthony List is targeting Democrats with digital ads who voted against the pro-life legislation from red states including Sens. Sherrod Brown (OH), Claire McCaskill (MO), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), and Jon Tester (MT).

They point out that the legislation “is especially high among millennials (78 percent), African-Americans (70 percent), and Hispanics (57 percent). Several national polls have found that as many as 51 percent of Democrats support limiting abortion after twenty weeks.”

You have to go after these politicians by threatening the only thing they care about, retaining power.

First, as always, we have prayer as a recourse. But after that we must work to change our country so that it respects life. Pray for the pro-abortion Democrats to change their mind. But until that conversion occurs, do them a favor by seeking to remove the temptation of power from them.
