Saint Bernard of Clairvaux wrote that when the archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she had been chosen to be the Mother of God, it was as though the angels in Heaven held their breath waiting for her reply.
I think it’s helpful to consider that moment because I believe the angels hold their metaphorical breath when we are faced with moral decisions. We live in increasingly darkening times and our “yes” will have consequences. So I think let’s give the angels a reason to cheer.
