We’ve been told time and time again that the reason people who consider themselves transgender consider or attempt suicide in higher numbers than other groups is because they’ve been shunned by society. So their suicides have been laid at the feet of those who believe gender is not subjective.
My feet. Your feet. It’s your fault.
However, a new study seems to contradict all that.
I don’t think you could argue that they’re shunned by society anymore. Our culture has bent over front ways and back ways to accept this form of mental illness as totally normal. We’ve applauded and celebrated it. We’ve subjected our children to it because hey, why not try out this social experiment on our children, amirite?
But for some reason the number of those who considered or attempted suicide remains constant. It’s almost as if these people need help, rather than just encouragement in their mental illness.
I know you’ll be accused of being a hate monger for stating this but it has the benefit of truth. To share it is actually a loving response. It means you actually care about these poor people and are not simply using them for political advantage.
Unlike some others.
