Hey, at least someone got arrested this time.

This is, of course, only the latest in a series of vandalisms against Catholic Churches in the past year.

Nebraska TV: A woman was arrested at the scene following a church vandalism Friday.

According to Grand Island Police (GIPD), officers were called just before 5 p.m. Friday to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on West State Street after someone reportedly threw a brick through a window.

GIPD Captain Jim Duering said nothing was stolen from the building. Services were not happening at the time of the incident.

However, GIPD said 52-year-old Mitzi Mohr allegedly caused $2,500 in damage and then entered the church to pull the fire alarm. She also allegedly threatened a priest.

Mohr was arrested at the scene for burglary, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.

My thinking on these is that each one could be explained away by it being perpetrated by a seriously ill person or by a couple of drunk teens.

But taken as a whole, I do find it disturbing that so many people are choosing to vandalize a Catholic Church. I think it says something about the culture. The general populace is marinating in a culture that views the Church as an enemy of #progress, #science, #thelgbtqagenda, and #women as well as many other hashtags.

This plays out in many ways. We see vandalism. We see people disconnecting from the “archaic” Church. We see an erosion of religious liberty because nobody will defend the Church.

So yeah, one mentally ill person tossing a rock through a window isn’t a major event but given all the other incidents in the U.S. and throughout Europe, I believe it’s symptomatic of a culture turning towards persecution of the Church.

Pray I’m wrong. The good news is that I usually am.
