Is “Shutup” our default setting now? Is debate anathema?

Let’s be honest, if this were twenty Democrats doing the same exact thing this would be heralded by as one of the greatest courageous stands since the Alamo (except they hate the Alamo too.)
Imagine this were the AOC rebellion. Think the media would be portraying it differently.
It would be heralded by generations of singer songwriters. Poets would invent new words in iambic pentameter. There’s be a movie. Of there would for sure be a movie and in the end AOC played by Timothee Chalamet would be carried out exhausted from the Capitol, whispering hoarsely about how she wished she could do more for the people or something. And then she’d look up and there’d be millions of supporters waiting outside cheering and she’d realize she’s won already.
What the media is actually shocked by is that conservatives still have a way to gum up the works. They have not been completely Tiananmened. They are still moving. They are not silenced. They are still influencing modern politics, even slightly.
And that must stop.
So they label the very fact that they exist as an embarrassment.
I wonder where this kind of thinking leads us?
