Man, they take their crime seriously in New York City, huh? This is perfect leftist lunacy. Here, you have a woman who jumped the fare and didn’t pay to get into the subway. And then you have the homeless man who was trying to steal her purse.
Enter our hero who stopped the robbery by firing a warning shot. And who gets arrested? You guessed it.
What’s the lesson being taught here? Don’t protect anyone. If you see something, do nothing.
Collin Rugg on X: New York man John Rote has been arrested after he saved a woman from getting robbed by a homeless man in a Manhattan subway station.
The current state of New York City.
On Tuesday evening, Rote noticed that a woman was getting robbed and immediately jumped into action. The man pulled out a gun and fired warning shots to stop the robbery.
The warning shots spooked the homeless man, saving the woman from getting robbed.
According to video footage, Rote noticed the woman getting mugged by 49 year old Matthew Roesch.
He then took off his backpack, reached inside, pulled out the gun and fired it off to scare off the attacker.
Rote then started getting closer and yelled at Roesch before firing the gun once more.
“I want to be clear: We don’t tolerate this kind of conduct in NYC Transit, period,” said city Transit President Richard Davey after Rote was arrested.
“Once again cameras recorded a perpetrator, and we are grateful the NYPD made an arrest within hours. Thank goodness nobody was hurt here but what occurred was outrageous, reckless, and unacceptable.”
In the video below, the top image is Rote firing off the shots. The bottom image is the homeless mugger.
Unreal.

Warning shots are a crime in most urban jurisdictions because they endanger bystanders. Either don’t shoot, or aim to put the bullets in the perp.
Furthermore, he defended a woman he wasn’t related to. That behavior needs to stop. If a woman believes she doesn’t need a man, and that attitude is more common in NYC than anywhere else in North America, then justice demands she defend herself.

That’s right. Everyone for himself now. Screw people who are in trouble. Not worth ruining my life to help a stranger. Keep to yourself, stay home, when you do go out don’t talk to people you don’t know, when you get a bad feeling then leave the area, listen to your gut about what people are doing. Their problem, not mine.

You’re missing the point. it’s all about proportionate response. a handgun is always, and only, lethal force. using it is applying lethal force in a situation where it was not legally allowed.
