Axios ran a piece about the rise in homeschooling and why that’s happening. Firstly, I’d like to point out that the piece is a decent one but I must take a slight issue with the first line:

Homeschooling in the U.S. shot up during the pandemic — and it appears to be here to stay.

“Shot up” and “Schooling” should never be in the same sentence unless you’re working on a very different story.

Anyway, there’s plenty of good news in the piece. Firstly, homeschooling is the fastest growing form of education in the country. Right now, there are perhaps 2.7 million homeschoolers.

What’s driving it? It’s a religious thing. Always has been. But there’s also a lot of people out there wondering what the hell is going on in public schools. Schools are telling kids they’re racist. They’re allowing boys to use girls locker rooms. They’re telling children that the country they live in is evil.

And normal people are questioning whether this is right. The pandemic and “zoom” school opened many parent’s eyes. It’s a horror what children are being exposed to.

This, of course, really angers the teacher’s union which wants all children to be indoctrinated. They will seek to prevent homeschooling in the near future. They’ve made attempts in the past but they were unsuccessful. But they will do it again. They can not allow any children to escape. They can not endure escapees. Homeschooling stands in their way.

The left saw the Constitution as an obstacle to their plans and they’ve done a decent job decimating that “living document.” They saw the Church as an enemy and have been very effective at infiltrating the Church and refocusing her priorities away from sin and redemption and more towards social justice. They’ve arrested and attacked Christians. Homeschoolers must be next. Be aware. Be ready.
