I say this because if you’ll remember every time a priest was accused of abusing a child, the media and their fellow travelers ranted that if only priests could marry this never would’ve happened.

Remember when the media really uncovered the abuse and the cover ups by the Church? I do. I applauded the media and urged the Church to do better.

But a funny thing happened after a while. The sexual abuse of children story just disappeared. Never mind that public schools have seen insane numbers of abuse of children over recent decades. Nothing about that. The sexual trafficking of children has been virtually ignored by the media. Jeffrey Epstein’s story was silenced by the media for years. And when that Christian movie with Jim Caviezel about this very issue, what happened? The media called it a conspiracy theory for nutters.

Hollywood made several movies about investigating the Church for covering up abuse. It was THE story. Good. But suddenly when we look for that abuse elsewhere it’s all crazy innuendo and debunked conspiracies. It’s almost like they never really cared about children at all but were using the scandal to take down the Church. Yeah, it’s almost like that.
