Oh my. This is not good. I don’t know whether it was intentional or not but please take a moment to pray for all involved.
I have to admit that the media calling this a bridge collapse doesn’t really tell the whole story. And I’ve seen many news reports saying this was not intentional even though nobody seems to know anything yet.
🚨BREAKING: MARYLAND GOV DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY

This clip makes this tragedy look very intentional. How I hope that I am wrong.

It looks like a terrible accident. It seems like the ship lost power. You can see the electrical fail a couple times, then get reestablished. Then they must be trying to reverse engines — see all the black smoke pouring from the funnel. Ship is nearly 1000 feet long and something like 100,000 tons, so it can’t stop on a dime. I’m so sad for the city and especially the people that must have lost their lives when their cars went into the river.

People on the boat radioed Mayday when they lost power, and police stopped trapffic and tried to get everyone off the bridge. It’s why there were so few lost in this tragedy.
I’ve driven over this bridge on more than a few occasions, and my brother does often. It’s going to be a long time before Bqltimore recovers.

Seems our President has said that he’s taken the train over that bridge many times….

I’m not complaining about your reporting…but the clip you posted is running at about 6x speed. The entire event, from the first power failure to the point when hit hits the bridge, was a little over 4 minutes. Compressing the time makes it look like a deliberate act. Sorry! I’ve been obsessing a little over this tragedy since I know the area well and, like Sherry, I’ve driven over that bridge many times.
