So a lifelong Democrat who happens to be a state senator left the Democrat Party after being punished for the thought crime of viewing life in and out of the womb as sacred.
Lifesitenews.com: During a press conference announcing his new membership in the Republican Party, Sen. Mike McDonnell said, “I asked the Democratic Party, Douglas County, to respect that I’m pro-life, that I’m a member of the Roman Catholic Church. My beliefs are based on that.”
“Douglas County Democrats, instead of respecting it, decided to punish it,” said McDonnell. “They said you cannot participate; you can’t be a delegate, we’re not going to share party resources.”
The newly minted Republican legislator elaborated in a written statement:
In 1984 I registered as a Democrat. I was a Christian, a member of the Roman Catholic Church and Pro-Life. In 2016 I ran as a Pro-Life candidate for Legislative District 5. When I ran for re-election in 2020 I was Pro-Life. I have asked the Democratic Party to respect my religious based pro-life position. Instead over the last year they have decided to punish me for being Pro-Life. The Douglas County Democrats voted not to seat me as a delegate and not to share party resources with me because I am Pro-Life. The State Democratic Party voted to censure me because I am Pro-Life. Being a Christian, a member of the Roman Catholic Church and Pro-Life is more important to me than being a registered Democrat. Today I am changing my party affiliation to Republican.
OK. Me again. I couldn’t care less about him becoming a Republican. It’s like saying I left the evil party to join the apathy party. But this guy made a stand to leave something he considered evil because he found that he could no longer be Catholic and a Democrat. I agree with him. I don’t see how one could be both. The Venn diagram just doesn’t work.
But the interesting thing here is that with the ascendancy and ruthlessness of the left, how long will it be that we can consider ourselves Catholic and American? They forced this Nebraska state senator to make a choice. They will do the same to you? Leftist ideals are certainly winning right now. I know that it just takes one moment to turn all this around with a supernatural event but without that it seems the left is winning. Do you expect they will become less ruthless as they accrue more power? Or will they force you to make the same choice? Your job or your faith? Take this shot made from an aborted stem cell line or lose your job! Accept that gender is fluid or lose your kids! Bake the cake, bigot!
If the left’s ascendancy continues, in the very near future you will be forced to make a decision between your faith and your livelihood, your freedom, or perhaps even your life. I pray we all make the right decision and eschew short-term temporal happiness. We are all immortal beings. This country has an expiration date. I pledge my soul to Christ, eternally.

That level of courage is very impressive. The last few years has exposed those who are more than willing to shove their neighbors into the cattle cars or are too cowardly to speak out against those who do. People lost jobs because they refused mandatory medical treatment in violation of the Nuremberg laws. Public venues required vaccine passports to attend events. Shrill voices called for concentrating the unvaxxed in camps. Police ‘just followed orders’ and arrested people attending church services and walking alone on the beach.
There must be consequences for these actions or worse will occur next time.

that state senator chose the better part. good for him. Also, is the DNC still pretending they are tolerant or has that facade peeled off entirely…I recall they used to be into inclusivity and diversity, but maybe not so much anymore.
