So instead of baptizing “in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” it’ll now be “In the name of Allah, his Messiahand his Holy Spirit” if some Bible translators get their way.
Weasel Zippers has the story about the growing controversy over three North American Christian organizations using a little editorial white out on the words “Father” and “Son” in new Bibles because they fear those terms are offensive to Muslims.
What? Seriously?
Isn’t everything pretty much offensive to Muslims? Let me tell you something, a little nomenclature shift isn’t going to make Middle East Christians any less beheaded. It ain’t the nomenclature folks. It’s the Jesus. They hate Christians, well a lot of them do anyway. And they’ve got swords and guns and many of the levers of government at their command.
Changing Christianity to make it less offensive to Muslims is never going to appease them. I urge these folks to keep the faith in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
