I’m not sure putting graphic and bloody pro-life signs in front of a church was the greatest idea but the off duty cop who confronts them acts like a real jerk and a bully.
Warning: The video contains some pretty graphic images from the signs the guys are holding.
Jill Stanek has more details. She’s saying the officer was suspended and faces misdemeanor charges.

What a total jerk. What a disgrace to his department as well. He needs to be at least suspended without pay for conduct un-becoming an officer. (or for conduct un-becoming an adult human being.)

Did I hear correctly? Is this guy the pastor of the church???
March 31, 2010 at 11:46 am
No. He's not the pastor there though that was originally reported at Stanek's site but that was a misunderstanding. He's a volunteer at the church.
He is a police officer though and he's reportedly been suspended.

Give some people a nickel's worth of authority and they'll act like they carry Fort Knox in their back pocket. Jerks like that give cops, the military, etc. a bad name.

The problem with this, and, quite frankly, the congregants of this church, is that they lack respect for humanity. While the guy with the hose was the culprit, the people who were part of the congregation did not only absolutely nothing to stop him, but tried to engage the protesters in a debate. Not one of them tried to talk the volunteer or pastor or whomever into treating the others with dignity.
Not one.

Ugh..I forgot a word. My first sentence should be "The problem with this guy……"

Though it may not have been prudent to display these graphic signs outside a church (echoing Matthew's sentiments), I credit them for photocopying an early-term abortion, which is what people need to see more often, seeing as how the vast majority of abortions are first trimester. Most picketers depict signs with late-term abortions, which only constitute a minuscule percentage of all abortions.

This man who has a job as a policeman really needs to be fired. Do you want this guy stopping you, your mother or father, daughter or son? we should pray for him though, he acts like he has actively participated in abortion and doesn't want to know what he has done though this is just conjecture based on experience with post-aboriton people. He is obviously mentally unstable and a threat to others.

Watching these heretic protesters against these heretic congregants was like watching Godzilla against Mothra. Fun to watch, but doesn't really matter who wins.
April 1, 2010 at 1:59 pm
It's not a point of "winning," Early Riser. It's the point of treating one human being as an object and not a person deserving of respect, whether or not they are heretics. So maybe to you, a person being treated like a dog in heat is fun to watch because you think he is a heretic, but not to me.
April 1, 2010 at 5:28 pm
Kim – and I guess that begs the question of just who is asking you?
April 1, 2010 at 5:58 pm
Early Riser:
Today is Holy Thursday. If we don't let Christ wash our feet, we cannot wash the feet of others. Each and every person, thing is a sign of Christ for us. Therefore, each and everyone is deserving of dignity. None of us deserves to be treated like a dog in heat.
April 1, 2010 at 7:16 pm
Kim – umm…still didn't answer the question.
April 1, 2010 at 10:59 pm
I was trying to be gentle, Early Riser. Since that didn't work, I will be blunt: One of the corporal works of mercy is to instruct the ignorant. Most times when I instruct the ignorant, I'm really just instructing myself rather than other people. Other times, I'm instructing myself and the other party.
You asked the question: who asked you? Well, it's simple: Christ. Christ asks each one of us to instruct each other. Of course, we instruct ourselves by doing that. If we can't allow ourselves to be instructed, or washed, then we cannot instruct, or wash, others.
And so, I can tell you, we should never condone the degradation of another, even if it just by laughing.

Kim – you are sincerely dilluded if you feel your opinions are Christ's instructions. I'm honestly getting to the point where nothing you say phases me anymore, since you seem to have no limit to your ego.
April 2, 2010 at 4:18 am
So, treating everyone with dignity is just my opinion? Hmmmmmm…somehow, I don't think so.
So, then if I'm wrong, correct me. Tell me, how is it good to laugh at someone disrespecting another? How is that Christ-like? How is that okay?
In all sincerity, if your answer is right and true, I will change my mind.
April 2, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Kim – in the spirit of Good Friday, I am going to assume you are not a lost cause. To answer you, Our Lord gave several examples of how to deal with people who were willfully and obstinantly ignorant and in fact persistently doing evil. In the case of the money changeers, He fashioned a whipe and drove them out as one would do with dumb livestock.
In sum, all humans are called to live their lives with dignity ad Majorem Dei Gloriam. But sometimes we are faced with less than dignified behavior. Our options are to respond in kind or take the path that gets the point across without committing violence to the other side. And the MAJOR point here is that YOU are not the final arbitor of what is "dignified" for anyone except yourself and who YOU choose to deal with. Is this clear enough?
April 2, 2010 at 10:25 pm
Yes, it's clear enough. And patently wrong.
