My sister Mary had a boy! And the baby’s fine. Thanks so much for all the prayers everyone. My sister’s blood pressure is still a bit high so she’s still being watched but I saw her last night and she looked like my sister except more tired.
Yesterday she was seriously not doing well. She was vomiting and all sorts of woozy. She called to say she was heading into the hospital even though she was a month early. Labor contractions started too. So they rushed in and hours of contractions later all of a sudden everything stopped. No contractions. Nothing. All of a sudden doctors and nurses were everywhere dragging her out calling it a “crash” situation.
My sister heard the anesthesiologist say, “I just need thirty seconds” and the ob said, “We don’t have thirty seconds.”
So it was bad.
But thank God and the wonderful medical staff at Beth Israel hospital all worked out well. And my sister has her first baby and my mother has her 20th grandchild. (That kid’s table is going to need a kid’s table at Thanksgiving!) I don’t know how to upload pics from my camera so I’ll just say that the baby looks pretty much like regular babies but a little cuter.
I got in at 5:20 a.m. thinking I had to get up at 6:30 to get the kids ready for school but my wonderful wife let me sleep so I’m just posting now at 10 a.m.
Once again, thanks so much for the prayers. My sister was very touched when I told her how you guys were praying for her and the baby.
Oh, and I’m the godfather. Because I rock.

Best baby description ever: "pretty much like other babies but a little cuter." This is just the perfect brother description I think.
You do rock. Congrats!

very scary—thank God for medical advances & praying brothers.
I also had preeclampsia with my last baby (with no warning of chronic high blood pressure)- She had to be taken at 32 weeks and she was 4 pounds (a very big, healthy baby in the NICU)
Research is being done that large amounts of calcium seem to cut the risks

That's one thing that made a huge impression on me in my (very short) career as an OB nurse: Most of the time, everything goes fine & is very 'routine' but, when things go bad, they bad very very quickly. You all were very blessed yesterday, perhaps more than you realize…but I guess that's the way with all of us, isn't it?

Thanks so much for the prayers and well wishes. It was a miracle that the baby came and was perfectly healthy. Small but didn't even have to go the NICU. We are home and on the mend. Again thanks for the prayers, I have no doubt that they are what got us through this scary situation.
