Jimmy Carter be hating on Pope John Paul II.
The former president said that he complained to the Pontiff about the Church’s “perpetuation of the subservience of women” while Blessed John Paul II was visiting the US in 1978, and “there was more harshness when we turned to the subject of ‘liberation theology.” Carter said that he classified the Pope as a “fundamentalist,” placing him in that category along with Iran’s late Ayatollah Khomeini.
In the same interview Carter said that “it is very fine for gay people to be married in civil ceremonies,” although he suggested—“maybe arbitrarily”—that churches should not be required by law to solemnize same-sex unions.
Carter made his remarks as he introduced a new edition of the Bible with his own study notes, helping readers to follow his understanding of the Scriptures.
That last line made me laugh out loud!!
Jimmy Carter is a jackass.

As a fellow Georgian and (sadly) a distant relative of Jimma (we share a common ancestor from colonial days) I feel I can call him a boob and a nitwit. Will go down as 1st or 2nd worst POTUS ever.

Sophia's Favorite. Jimmy Carter did not have our soverignty until after he was inaugurated. What Jimmy Carter did was aid and abet, by promising the Trilateral Commission the power of America to their horrific ideas. Any power the Trilateral Commission had was given them by the countries who "signed on". Today the one world government under the world bank is alive and well and contradicted by the Vatican's one world government under GOD. An infinite God of Glory and Majesty instead of a mortgage company. And the idea of the all powerful bank is still centered in England and America. It is no coincidence. Incidentally, the European Union failed and so will the one world government under the mortgage company fail because without our Creator, God almighty in WHOM we trust, there is no substance to any authentic authority, law or leadership. When Jimmy Carter signed on, that is, gave ascent to the Trilateral Commission, he gave ascent to one world government under the mortgage company. Thank God, The National Catholic Register kept its hand on the pulse of American politics and called out the tar and feathers, so to speak. You know, Sophia's Favorite, that our country needs the tar and feathers now more than ever. It is time for FREEDOM. Don't sign me up unless I authorize it.

P.S. Congress ratifies treaties according to the will of the people. That is consitutional. With Obamacare the will of the people be damned.

Man, fully alive, is the glory of God. Woman, fully alive, is the glory of man. If woman is subserviant, it is to whom? to man. It must be to God alone all persons must answer. It is man who loses his glory. In honoring the Blessed Virgin, the Catholic Church honors all Mothers, virgins and women. But what would Jimmy Carter know about that? Roslyn Carter is still pro-abortion. Half the babies aborted are women.

Anonymous, how long have you been a queer?
And Catholic Church hater?
Homophobic, mysogenistic? Jimmy Carter, decent? The devil is a pure spirit with no soul. Only human beings have souls. Abortion deprives the human soul of its human body. (What God has joined together let no man put asunder). If it were up to Jimmy and Roslyn Carter, You, Pablo, would have been aborted. Face it.

I don't agree with him lecturing Bl. John Paul II, but I think it is wrong and a sin against charity to call him- or anyone else- names.

Anon at 3:12 pm, thanks for the link to the ASB. I still stand by what I said about the Prot study Bibles. They are sectarian and partisan." The Protestant bibles call the Person of God, our Father, a "that" or a "which". When God, our Father, the Person of God in Whose image man, the human being, is created by our constitutional Creator, is denied His name "I AM WHO I AM", all persons who are given God's own name at conception, given "I AM", existence, are denied personhood and sovereignty. Who is like unto God to dare to deny God's sovereign personhood?

A child was sitting by the sidewalk with a sign "Free Christian Kittens". A week later, the sign changed to "Free Atheist Kittens". A passerby asked the difference. The kid said "Their eyes are open now". A week later the sign read: "Free Catholic Kittens" their minds are open now.

"perpetuation of the subservience of women"…? Yeah, that's a laugh. After living the live of a supposedly free woman for many years I converted in 1990. One of the many things about the Church that had grabbed my attention was the fact that the first time I felt truly valued as a person by men was when I met truly Catholic men. I was given respect simply because I existed, and because I am the beloved of God. Up until then I was just a means to an end. Mr. Carter, John Paul II understood more about women and respected them more than you and your liberal lot combined ever have or ever will.

Mary "Free Catholic Kittens" their minds are now open.
That is kind of clever, well played.
