Georgetown University has taken sides against the Catholic Church, there is no other way to interpret it.
While the US Catholic Bishops are pulling out all the stops trying to repeal the anti-Catholic and anti-Constitutional HHS Mandate requiring Catholic institutions provide free access to contraception, abortofacients, and sterilization, Georgetown University has chosen the author of the horrible mandate as this year’s commencement speaker for Georgetown University Public Policy Institute.
There is no other way to interpret this other than as a direct challenge to the authority of th Catholic Bishops and as clear statement as to which side the University is on in this crucial standoff.
This afternoon, Georgetown announced the speakers for each school’s commencement address. Here is the list:
David Simon, creator of the critically acclaimed television dramas “The Wire” and “Treme” will be speaking to the College.Dr. Mark Green, senior director of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and former ambassador to Tanzania is the speaker for the School of Nursing & Health.
Ela R. Bhatt, founder of the Self-Employed Women’s Association, the largest union in India, and a consultant for UNICEF, will address the School of Foreign Service.
Tim O’Shaughnessy (B ’04), CEO and co-founder of LivingSocial will be speaking to the McDonough School of Business.
The speaker for the senior convocation is Helen O’Really (F ’03), current judicial clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
List of speakers for other Georgetown schools:
…
Former governor of Kansas and current secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, will be addressing the Georgetown Public Policy Institute.
This is an outrage and a direct challenge to the Bishops. Cardinal Wuerl, Cardinal Dolan, and the whole USCCB needs to immediately revoke Georgetown’s status as a Catholic University.
In this crucial debate, you are either with us or against us. Georgetown has taken the other side. If there was any question left about whether Georgetown was still Catholic, that question has now been answered.

NOW catholics see how deep they have been infiltrated by the cultural marxists.
Shine a little light, and they'll apear.

The term Catholic college makes as much sense these days as the term Muslum Porkchop

I'm shocked, shocked that this could happen at a Jesuit university.

There are many faithful Catholic Colleges and Universities. It is time to recognize and support them and to remove Catholic from the name of those who are blatently not following the Magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church. It brings Luke 10:16 to mind – and they ain't hearing.

Georgetown wil probably give Sebelius an honorary degree in abortion, contraception and denying the immortal soul of the person.

Shocked. Shocked, I say.

Nothing charitable in causing scandal to the faithful. Souls are in peril.

It's completely obvious that the secular savages are sticking their dirty thumbs in Catholics' eyes. A bold, decisive move is needed here by the USCCB. As the immortal Bugs Bunny said many times, "Of course, you realize this means war!"

Jesus invites Judas to speak to the children of his disciples?

The real problem is not Obama, but the Catholic Church itself: it is only where the bishops and priests betray the Church, that scenarios like this ever emerge. Georgetown should have lost it's Catholic status a very long time ago, and the Bishops never should have supported so-called health reform, the intention was obvious.
If a university can get away with it, it is certain many parishes teach the same garbage as it does. Georgetown should be de-Catholicized, simple as that!

That ought to be said to Sebelius

I agree that through the bishop's laxity, much evil has been permitted to rampage throughout Catholic institutions. But while we may be entirely correct to fault the fire department for allowing the blaze to get out of hand, the fact that the buildings are still on fire and that there are plenty of places mostly untouched but threatened by it, we need to goad and encourage the fireman what their job is.

In response to Marc's statement that the Church should have never supported the health reform…Which part should they have been against? Universal health coverage? Mandatory coverage for pre existing conditions?….
The problem is not with health reform. Our health care system bankrupts people every day! The problem is with politicians inserting things into it that is not health care..eg: artificial contraception and abortion.
I agree though, Georgetown University should be severely chastised by the church and any connections thereof should be severed.

Why be surprised? Secular heretics seized control of Holy Mother Church 50 years ago. Smart money would not bet on restoration of orthodoxy in the next century. Let the sophists parse the Gospel pronouncement: "On this rock I will build my church…"
Rejoice! We are all Unitarians (bless them) now!

So, are young Catholics at Georgetown going to organize a protest?
No one protested in support of Paul Ryan when he spoke at Georgetown. There were a few liberal Catholic students with a banner.
Catholic conservatives riduled them and there small numbers from the comfort of their keyboards, judgin and condemning.
Stop bitching and start acting. Someone needs to start organizing Catholic kids at Georgetown.
Not many of them post here probably but readers here have kids, nephews, nieces, and grand-kids they can encourage.

The Jesuits involved in running the place, if there are any left, ought to be censured. And if the Jesuits won't cooperate, the Uni ought to be declared no longer Catholic. Ditto for the "Jesuits" – they are frauds.

Georgetown needs to be stripped of their Catholic status ASAP. They've deserved for a long time – this should be the last straw. We are sick of the charade. At this point, I consider Georgetown an open enemy of the Church, and I would not set foot on their campus for any reason. Let them become secular – at least it would be honest. We need to let these wretched institutions go…it is a much worse scandal to keep them than to admit they are corrupt to the core.

Anyone who has been in the light of Catholic Truth should not be shocked at this. Father Hardon SJ, said 20 years ago that the schism is in effect defacto. He and only a few Jesuits are the last faithful of of the order.
Anyone who could not see this and more of the same coming has their head in the sand. The only hope is what the Virgin Mary has said at Medjugorje….Pray the rosary and fast on Wednesday's and Friday's.

Cardinal Wuerl ought to assert himself immediately and put a stop to this nonsense.
Unfortunately, I do not believe he has the courage to do so.
His motto seems to be "go along to get along".
Truly sad for the Church.
