Just days after Fordham University’s president Fr. Joseph McShane, S.J. determined that conservative author Ann Coulter was too “hateful and needlessly provocative” to speak on campus, the University will tomorrow host the pro-infanticide ethicist Peter Singer to speak at a conference entitled “Conference with Peter Singer: Christians and Other Animals: Moving the Conversation Forward.”
For those unfamiliar with Singer, Joe Carter at First Things summed up Singer’s ethics this way:
Singer has spent a lifetime justifying the unjustifiable. He is the founding father of the animal liberation movement and advocates ending “the present speciesist bias against taking seriously the interests of nonhuman animals.” He is also a defender of killing the aged (if they have dementia), newborns (for almost any reason until they are two years old), necrophilia (assuming it’s consensual), and bestiality (also assuming it’s consensual).
Nevertheless, not only is the Jesuit university hosting the infanticide-supporting philosopher, but the description of the conference at Fordham Notes even goes so far as to call Singer “the most influential philosopher alive today”:
You can read the rest of the report at The Cardinal Newman Society. And believe me, it gets worse from here. The “moderator” of the event, a Fordham theologian, actually compared Singer to Pope John Paul II. Check it out.

Nauseating!

Feeling like Alice does not even cover it.

How does this even happen? – I just do not understand

Horrifying! Singer is a mouthpiece for Satan.

The American Bishops lose all credibility when Dolan is on TV telling the President's administration 'We wont back down.' while the Bishop in this situation is silent. Consistency in ethical matters and how these kinds of situations are dealt with is so critical.
Peter Singer is a 3rd rate intellect whose managed to make a career by using the Johnathan Swift model without any irony whatsoever. For this, academia has granted him superstar status.
It's completely pathetic that Fordham is giving him a forum.

Actually based on the high acceptance of his principles in modern society, it is probably valid to call him "the most influential".

Sand Mama, what you said, times a thousand!
And the bishops wonder why many Catholics didn't bother listening to them during the elections?
BTW, how the Hell can necrophilia and bestiality be consensual?!?!?!?

"Christians and Other Animals: Moving the Conversation Forward."
To where, may I ask?
And academics wonder why they're getting less and less respect from the general public…
BTW, don't expect Pope Benedict (Arnold) to do a damn thing about this. He's far more interested in promoting government health care, creating an international financial agency to over see world economics (see "Caritas in Veritae") and "fraternal" co-operation w/non-Catholics (read: Muslims) on social issues (Evangelicals need not apply).

"Christians and Other Animals: Moving the Conversation Forward." If people and students are not insulted by being called "Animals" maybe they ought to be. Peter Singer calls us souless "Animals" and we call Peter Singer warm and compassionate. Ask yourself this: "If Peter Singer had to choose between a human baby and a rat, his choice would be…?

How timely, as Obamacare superimposes a reversal of our Creator’s plan for man in freedom, and creates a soulless citizen, with no conscience, some atheists are proposing an idea that animals have rational, immortal souls with consciences called a “moral compass”. A “moral compass” is an immortal conscience, endowed only to the soul of the human being, the sovereign person of man. Unique to man is his rational, immortal soul. Some atheists want the concept of a “moral compass”, an animal conscience, to guide instinct in animals to be acknowledged. This would justify vice as animal behavior in man. Animal instinct is called natural law, called forth in our Declaration of Independence as “the laws of nature and nature’s God”. The “moral compass” in animals is their instinct subject to “the laws of nature and nature’s God”. The “moral compass” in man is his conscience subject to Divine Law.

I have no use for people who push sex with animals. My Chow-Chow recently chased a pervert out of my back yard who wanted a little 'puppy love'. I didn't see what occurred ,but I found the weirdo's sex toy in my grass a few days later. Two days later, I brought a semi-auto pistol and shotgun, so if Singer's disciple shows up while I'm home, he'll have to worry about getting blasted so well as bit!

A prayer for the Jesuits: St. Isaac Jogues and all the Jesuit Saints and Martyrs and especially, Ft. John Hardon and Fr. Alfred Delp, please pray and intercede ardently for the Jesuits of today, that they may become holy and zealous priests of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and loyal sons of our Holy Father.

I think we're living
in biblical times. This
is very disturbing news.
I sometimes yhink the Jesuits
have sold their souls to
the anti-Christ.

To be fair, Ann Coulter does deliberately troll liberals, because she finds it funny. Singer isn't a deliberate provacateur.
And people really do need to hear what Singer says—I've seen lots of people become interested in bioethics because they see something he wrote and then say, "Wait, what? This nutjob is a major ethicist?!"
PS. Joseph D'Hippolito, shouldn't you be looting a monastery somewhere, you Protty stooge? The grownups are talking.

Sophia's Favorite, I guess Sophia dumped you for somebody else. That probably explains your peevishness. Then again, I wouldn't blame her. After all, when you respond to a legitimate challenge with personal attacks, Sophia probably would be offended.
Speaking of grownups, I suggest you become one. Fast.

I must've missed how tinfoil-hat conspiracy theories where you call the Pope "Benedict Arnold" and laughably misrepresent his point constitute "legitimate challenge".
But then again, what would you know about being legitimate?
November 19, 2012 at 7:26 pm
Sophia's Favorite, let me ask you a direct question, one that reflects far more about you than it would me:
Do you hate Protestants more than you love God?
