Alisa Lapolt Snow, the Planned Parenthood lobbyist, who shocked the nation with her defense of live birth abortions in front of a Florida House committee, served on the board of Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida.
Here’s what her bio on her website said:
Alisa is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism. She was a founding member and secretary of the Sunset Rotary Club of Tallahassee and serves on the board of Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida-Tallahassee. She is a member of the Florida Association of Professional Lobbyists.
Because I don’t take the word of people from Planned Parenthood on anything, I checked the website and she was not listed on their board of directors.
So I called the Catholic Charities office and they told me that Lapolt-Snow did indeed serve on the board until leaving in January. She didn’t explain further.
How horrifying is that? A lobbyist for Planned Parenthood was a board member for a Catholic Charities office. I can’t believe that it’s not clear to everyone that you cannot advocate for the killing of babies and be a Catholic. Just can’t.

Horrifying, but not at all unexpected. I have long considered "Catholic" Charities to be misnamed: it should be called "Leftist Charities". Just about everyone who works for "Catholic" Charities is an ardent leftist and dissenter from Catholic doctrine on all the usual and predictable topics.

But when did she become a lobbyist for Planned Parenthood? It might have been after she left in January.
Her position on abortion might not have been known until then.

But her heart was as it was. This is why CC does not get one penny from me. We MUST know who we are supporting. Do not donate blindly, assuming every "catholic" organization is Catholic.

She needs only to become a Senator or House Rep and lobby for the baby-killers in peace and tranquility, undisturbed by parishioner and bishop alike as she waltzes up the communion aisle. Just a little more power and she's golden.

That's why Catholic Charities, Catholic Relief Services, and Campaign for Human Development don't get a penny from me. Lifesite News keeps up with what they are doing. I don't even trust my diocese that much since it's in Austin, Tx.

Agreed. I live further south than you and feel the same way.

I worked for Catholic Charities in the 1980'a as a social worker. They asked in the interview if you are in accord with Church teaching and never brought up Church teaching again. A Jewish Social Worked openly mocked this policy and referred for birth control and abortion. Anyone who thinks that Catholic Charities takes the moral laws of the Church seriously is kidding themselves.

yet another reason to mark them off my list. I quit giving the Catholic Charities when they didn't back the bishops regarding the HHS mandate.

The Church needs to regain its grip in various areas. We have been lulled and lured by the soft money of school choice or government subsidy. Bottom line, we are in a time of contraction. What do we do?
W shed these secular features. Secular dollars. And get back to our core of serving our fellow Catholics. Maybe then we can reclaim our identity and not be lost in the secular soup.
