In the wake of the Kermit Gosnell horror and reports of “unsafe” and “unsanitary” conditions at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Delaware, President Obama is pulling out of his agreement to keynote for Planned Parenthood’s annual gala.
This is big news for arguably the most pro-abortion president in this history of our country who once threatened to pull funding for poor people in states which refused to give taxpayer money to the abortion giant. Obama will speak to Planned Parenthood the following day but not as the keynote. This can only be seen as a distancing of the president from Planned Parenthood.
The abortion industry is currently suffering the worst press it’s ever received. Not only is the Gosnell trial finally being covered in the media but it turns out that not only did the National Abortion Federation know about Gosnell’s clinic years before authorities but so too did Planned Parenthood. Gosnell applied to become an NAF member in 2009 but was rejected due to the evaluator reporting back that it was the worst clinic they’d ever seen. But it seems the NAF failed to report their findings to the authorities.
And what about Planned Parenthood? On April 18, the Philadelphia Daily News reported that Planned Parenthood knew about the conditions in Gosnell’s clinic, yet they too did not contact the police or elected officials. And these are the people who care about women?
SBA-List President Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following comment:
“Planned Parenthood last week admitted to knowing about the horrors going on inside Kermit Gosnell’s squalid Philadelphia clinic, but chose not to exercise its position as the leader in the abortion industry to put an end to the butchering of women and children. No matter the reason for his backing out, it is certainly a good time to distance oneself from Planned Parenthood. Now is also a good time for President Obama to reconsider his position of forcing taxpayers to fork over more than $542 million each year to this abortion-centered, profit-driven business. Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider which in a single year ended the lives of more than 333,000 children.
“Planned Parenthood cannot claim that the Gosnell ‘house of horrors’ was an isolated incident as their own employees exposed them earlier this month for ‘ridiculously unsafe’ clinic conditions and ‘meat-market style of assembly line abortions,’ in Delaware. That came after news last month that Planned Parenthood lobbied against a bill designed to protect babies born alive after abortion from the cruel death offered by Gosnell.”
Earlier this month ABC News in Philadelphia reported that two former nurses at the Planned Parenthood of Delaware abortion clinic walked out of the clinic and quit, citing unsafe and unsanitary conditions, and “a meat-market style of assembly-line abortions.”
I don’t believe this is a permanent shunning of the abortion giant. Planned Parenthood IS the Democrat Party. This is just a temporary distancing for pr purposes. But it does show that when Planned Parenthood is exposed for the horror that it is, people respond. And if enough people recoil in horror, politicians might think twice about their continued support.
