With a major hat tip to Pewsitter I bring you this story.
So here’s the deal. A homosexual activist named Joe Murray essentially stood in the front pew during Mass where Chicago’s Archbishop Francis Cardinal George presided at the Archdiocesan’s Gay and Lesbian Outreach’s (AGLO) 25th anniversary liturgy. While a number of gay activists protested outside Murray had his back turned to Cardinal George and was facing the people while wearing a rainbow sash. Real subtle, huh?
Murray had previously protested Cardinal George being invited to this Mass, saying “‘The only metaphor that comes to mind is that of inviting Hitler to a remembrance service for holocaust victims.” Yeah, subtlety is not his thing.
When Murray presented himself for Communion he was sent away by Cardinal George empty handed. That is, until Brenna Cronin, a reported lesbian cantor, went up twice and personally delivered the Eucharist to Murray. She was previously quoted in the Windy City Times saying of this mass:
“Brenna Cronin, choir member and cantor, is torn. ‘For me as a music minister, I will have to make a decision. My heart says that I want to be there that day and minister for my community,’ she said. ‘At the same time I want to stand on the sidewalk with Joe Murray and hold a candle to show my protest.’
Murray called Cronin his “priest” for delivering the Eucharist to him.
No word yet on any consequences of this act.

Reason 1,365 for restricting the sanctuary to those in orders.

Nathan, music to my ears…..music.

I think the act of the cantor is a ground for excommunication!

The sacred Host strengthens our communion with Jesus and his teachings. If this communion with Jesus does not exist then the receiving of the sacred bread becomes a meaningless – and disrespectful – exercise. The woman who participated in this exercise is also guilty of deliberately disrespecting our Saviour.

Having had their scandalous hour of unrepentant joy in disobedience and apparently "loving" every unblessed minute of it.
They may now look forward to spending an eternity in the "lake of fire" as Jesus promised!
and please, don't say "gay" was "worth" it!

Unless of course, they amend their lives, make a good confession and don't cause anymore public scandal.
We can only hope.

This incident could not have happened without the Communion-In-The-Hand Indult that was brought to the USA by then Chicago archbishop Bernardin. By law the indult can be removed when the threat of profanation. Can anyone honestly say the Blessed Sacrament was not profaned in this church?

Cardinal George will undoubtedly do next to nothing about it, I fear. I love him, don't get me wrong. But his modus operandi is definitely of the "pastoral and kind" approach; not the firm and discipline approach. The Cantor should be removed from her "ministry" there, at the very least. We'll see if the Cardinal issues a letter to us Chicago Catholics, as he sometimes does, in the Chicago Archdiocese newspaper. I'll give him this ~ he's much more outspoken than he was when he was the President of the USCCB.

It's interesting to watch the video without the sound… you can read the arrogance in her body language loud and clear.

Anne, you rock. This should be in leaflets handed out to those inside and outside that unnecessary celebration. Magdalene and Nathan, right on!

I agree with Mr. Paul that you can read the pride in her body language, though I didn't need to turn down the sound to see it. But I think the message I see in her body language is that of a girl who is totally convinced that she is on the right side of a huge civil rights battle rather than simply of defiant arrogance. She BELIEVES she is on the side of good. In as much as I find her behavior abhorrent, I think we should keep in mind here that there is in play, an exceptionally brilliant campaign for the minds of the youth, and the opposition has effectively used language imagery to manipulate these young people for MOST of their lives. I don't think they even know better now. The Church has been caught off-guard and so is losing right now. But remember, this is heaven's battle (i.e Christ's) and He will win. Meanwhile, we need to step up and speak up with charity. Charity is rooted in an understanding that those in opposition to us also possess a fallen nature and are subject to manipulation and confusion of facts. Let us deal with them gently but firmly. The only thing that will bring them around to the truth is love. Criticism and condemnation rarely work.

I watched the video with the sound down and what I noticed was the terrible sadness and suffering of Joe Murray. This is tragic because neither he or Brenna Cronin understands that this deep sadness is a fruit of his rebelliousness rather than of who he is. The fruit of obedience and submission to Christ is joy. Christ expresses His will for mankind through Scripture, Tradition, the Magisterium and thus through the Bishops teaching. Brenna clings to Joe Murray like the knight-in-shining-armour trying to save him from the very thing that will bring him joy and truly save him. How terribly tragic that she has been so poorly catechized as to not understand this. The saints -all of them – exuded great joy in the midst of the most horrendous suffering precisely because they submitted to Christ. This man needs to reign in his passions and get them under control by giving them over to Christ entirely. He needs to go to Confession and acknowledge his past humbly and with full intent not to offend again. Then you will see an entirely different man in front of you…one who is full of joy and happiness rather than this pitiful image of a man enslaved by his passions.

They do that to nobodies but when it comes to powerful pols like Cuomo, then Cardinal Dolan stands in plain view as the pro-abort mayor receives the Holy Communion right under his very nose. I also read about a nameless Latina who runs an abortion clinic; she's excommunicated just like that. But Pelosi, Reid, Biden & Sebellius – God forbid they be held in less than good Catholic standing. Swallowing the camel, sifting the gnat. Shameful. Disgraceful. Hypocritical. Sinful.
