Democrats are frightened to death by the 20 week abortion bill. That bill makes Democrats change their shorts because they know that it’s a winning issue and that they look exactly like the pro-death lunatics that they actually are. To counter this, they’re essentially pushing to repeal the Hyde Amendment.
It’s a pathetic attempt to change the conversation. But this is what they do. It’s the playbook. Because it’s not exactly about abortion. It’s just about giving poor women access to “women’s healthcare.” It’s always about access with these folks.
The 20 week ban frightens them because what do so-called “pro-life Dems” like Senator Bob Casey do with that bill? As of now, they can vote for it because they know that Obama will eventually veto it. But if a Republican wins, then the real vote will happen and the Democrats won’t play nicely with those pro-life Dems.

House Democrats proposed bold pro-abortion rights legislation on Wednesday that has no chance of passing in the GOP-controlled chamber, but highlights the massive gulf between the two parties on the hot-button issue.
The Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance Act, or the EACH Woman Act, would guarantee abortion coverage for all Medicaid recipients and women who receive health insurance through the federal government. The bill, authored by Reps. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) and Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) and co-sponsored by more than 60 House Democrats, would repeal the decades-long ban on abortion insurance coverage for U.S. federal employees, military servicewomen, Peace Corps volunteers and those who are insured through the Indian Health Service. It would also prevent state legislatures from interfering with the private insurance market and banning insurers from covering abortion.
Specifically, the bill would overturn the Hyde Amendment, a policy rider that bars the use of federal funds to pay for abortions, except if a pregnancy arises from incest or rape. Anti-abortion politicians have been attaching the rider to important pieces of legislation each year since 1976, and it disproportionately affects minority and low-income women.
If the Democrats win the presidency you can be sure this legislation will be front and center. They’ll frame it along with their friends in the media as part of the War on Women. Let’s face it, the only reason they Dems didn’t do when Obama won the presidency and they had both houses for two years was because they didn’t want to distract from Obamacare. They thought they’d pay for abortion through that but they didn’t expect the pushback they got. Mind you, they eventually got around the pro-life Dems because they weren’t so much pro-life as they were Dems.
So, in short, I’m essentially saying that the pro-death party is still pro-death. Shocker, I know.
