Shocking. America Magazine, published by the Jesuits of the U.S., pulled their endorsement of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination.
What’s shocking to me is that America Magazine endorsed him in the first place.
A national magazine published by the Jesuits of the U.S. declared in an article by its editors that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination “should be withdrawn” after testimony from Kavanaugh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford Thursday.
“We recognize that this nomination is no longer in the best interests of the country,” the editors wrote in America: The Jesuit Review. “While we previously endorsed the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh on the basis of his legal credentials and his reputation as a committed textualist, it is now clear that the nomination should be withdrawn.”
As of now, it doesn’t look like the Jesuits will swing the vote their way. It appears Kavanaugh is on his way to the court.
Good news.
