Ugh.
And these people consider themselves elite.
What would George Washington say about the state of our leaders today?
The Blaze reports that the California Democrat who was elected to U.S. Congress will be sworn in on various documents, including a copy of the first “Superman” comic book, which is worth about $5.3 million…
(Robert) Garcia is the first openly LGBTQ immigrant to be voted into the U.S. Congress. He was formerly the mayor of Long Beach from 2014 until he was elected for the 42nd district of California.
Most choose to place their hand on the Bible as they’re making a solemn oath to adhere to the Constitution. But this guy went with a comic book,.
That kinda’ makes me think that he’s not all that serious about either the Constitution or the Bible. To be honest, it makes me consider him an unserious person altogether.
And that’s really the crux of the problem. So many of our leaders are unserious. And unserious leaders make for tragically serious times. The joke will eventually be on us.

This not only makes a mockery of oath-taking ceremonies, but makes a mockery of The Oath itself. The idea of swearing an oath is that you are underscoring your commitment to adhering to the truth in all that you say and all that you do. Swearing on the Scriptures, or on anything that is sacred, is a way of calling God to witness that if you break your word, you agree to have divine curses visited upon you. Why the Scriptures? Because they are true, because they are the Word of God who is Truth itself, and because God has the power to make good His promise to stomp you if you turn to lies.
Superman comic books are entertainment, and sometimes have nice moral lessons — but they aren’t sacred and they aren’t true. They are, in fact, fiction.
To swear on them is to say that you not only don’t care about truth, that your word is worthless, but that you consider the very notion that you are obliged to live in Truth and abhor the Lie to be a matter for derision, mockery, and spite.
So keep your eye on this guy — he’s made a public declaration that he is a man of the Lie, that he doesn’t believe he needs to be honest and faithful, and that he has the moral integrity of an incorrigible criminal Expect only evil from him.

agreed. it is a mockery. this tells us something of how such people perceive their role. Not as service to country, but exploitation for self.
Also, $5.3 million??? He has sworn to mammon???

Since he(?) is a California Democrat isn’t this suitable? Maybe he should also be sworn in wearing a clown costume.
Transparency is what we’re after folks!
