It’s the second one. The first one is just some ridiculous teacher pretending to ban books. Ignore that one. The second one is white grammar school children acting as servants in a skit for Black History Month.

When I was in second grade, we had a black teacher. There were ZERO black kids in our school. I actually LOVED her and she was the first black person I ever spoke with in my entire life! At one point, though, she decided we were going to learn firsthand about slavery and such. She divided us into two groups. One group were the “priveleged” group, who got extra snacks, toys, etc. while the other group was the “servants”. The group was even allowed to “taunt” and make fun of the servant group. The servant group had to do all the work, and even had to do their schoolwork with crayons. The next day, the groups switched, so every student got a chance to be both. However, during this “exercise” and for many years after, I felt traumatized by it.
It was way too much for seven year olds. It pitted children against each other and really brought out some aggressiveness. This is wrong, as is what this article is about.
