Jesus told us He is the way, the truth, and the life. He wasn’t being hyperbolic. He meant it. If you reject the one true path you’re lost. And make no mistake, that rejection isn’t just spiritual; it seeps into every corner of our society, distorting our values and leading us down a dark road. When the fundamental truth of Jesus is dismissed, what remains is a society adrift, where subjective truth reigns supreme, and death becomes the ultimate consequence. Seriously.

Recently, Katie Porter, the leading gubernatorial candidate in California, made a startling statement. She claimed that rising inflation now makes the right to abortion more urgent than ever. So should we be rooting for inflation? I’m confused. Think about that for a moment. Inflation, a financial crisis, a challenge to our economic stability yet her response is to elevate abortion. It’s a revealing glimpse into how far we’ve strayed from moral clarity. For the secularist mindset, almost every issue is linked to death—whether it’s crime, climate, or social policy.

Take crime, for example. In the 1990s, the narrative was that crime dipped thanks to tough-on-crime policies. But the narrative for many academics and those in the media is more insidious. Many argue that the decline in crime was due to the Roe v. Wade decision, which they claim reduced the population of potential offenders, y’know, those “undesirable” demographics. It’s a dark echo of eugenics dressed up as progress, implying that the solution to crime is not better law enforcement but fewer lives. Fewer lives of a certain type, if you know what I mean.

Then there’s climate change. The climate alarmists insist that humans are the primary culprits and that climate catastrophe is imminent unless we drastically cut emissions. Their “solution”? Less humans. That’s right. The most radical environmentalists advocate for policies that, intentionally or not, reduce the population including abortion, sterilization, restrictions on growth—all in the name of “saving the planet.” But what they’re really doing is turning nature into an excuse to diminish human life.

The problem of White nationalism which leads just about every network news hour also reveals a troubling logic. Some believe that by importing more immigrants and encouraging abortion among whites, they can “solve” the so-called problem of the white patriarchy. It’s a racialist fantasy that the problem of identity and power can be eliminated through demographic shifts, not through education or love. But the real solution isn’t found in policies that promote death and division, it’s in recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every human life.

And what about healthcare? Rising costs, aging populations, and personal tragedy are the real issues. But instead of addressing the root causes, some suggest a sinister shortcut: assisted suicide. When despair and debt threaten to drown us, the response is not to heal but to end.

It’s a sobering reflection of a society that has rejected the sanctity of life in favor of convenience and nihilism. What ties all these issues together is the rejection of Jesus Christ, the truth that gives life meaning. When you forsake that truth, society becomes a place where death is viewed as a solution rather than a tragedy, where subjective morality replaces objective standards, and where the most vulnerable are sacrificed on the altar of progress.

Make no mistake: America is at a crossroads. We can continue down this dark path, or we can return to the truth that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Because only with that foundation can we truly value life, uphold justice, and restore hope. Otherwise, we are simply drifting further into the shadows, where death and despair await.
