Sometimes it’s all so simple. Choosing sides, I mean.
There were two questions in recent months that made the media stand up and notice. On the one hand, you’ve got Joe the Plumber who asked presidential candidate Barack Obama why the federal government was on his back. And the media investigated him, while the government attempted to destroy him. And now you have Julio who essentially asks President Obama what the government can do for him.
Which one do you relate to? Which one of these questions represents the America that you know and love. Sometimes the choice is that simple. Now, the next video is just icky when you consider how nasty Keith Olbermann was to Joe the Plumber. Check out the fawning over Julio. It’s pretty sad. If you make it through without retching I’ll be impressed.

2nd video no longer available.
First one reminds of that awful campaign ad with the kids signing the Obama song. Bleeeech!

Ok, I seriously seriously thought the first video was from The Onion. Please tell me it was? PLEASE?!?!?
This was just bad. The servility was downright disturbing. What ever happened to decorum and self respect?

Of course Keith Olbermann loves him: he’s a man after Keith’s own heart.

Thank GOD, almighty and the blessed virgen I do not have to sit through these.
First, in all fairness, these are no better or worse than the Townhalls under Bush, where we got such hard-hitting “questions” such as, “Thank you, Mr President, for being an inspiration to my and all future generations.” These town-halls are always one-way stroke-jobs for whoever is in office. So, Matthew, let’s play fair, OK?
Second, this Julio is a typical fundie “pocho”. I can smell them a mile away and Texas is full of them. His manner of speak, gestures and energy gave him away. So, in other words, he’s NOT “one of ours”. But come on, the kid is only 19; the severe acne alone should merit giving him a break.
As for your question of which one I relate to; I am neither a bald out-of-work plumber practicing tax-evasion, nor am I a fundie burger-flipper with more energy than common sense. So, the answer is neither.

You mean Glenn Beck was serious? I thought he was kidding when he played this on his radio program. WOW!

what’s a fundie pocho?

what’s a fundie pocho?
Beats me. I stopped trying to comprehend when I realized it was one big lame “you too!”

Anonymous – a fundie = fundamentalist, evangelical or any other such person that has been indoctrinated to jump around in large spaces waving their hands in the air shouting that they are “saved! Awash in the blood of the lamb!” and other such catch-phrases ad infinitum to the point that they lose meaning, substance and context.
A “pocho” is a 2nd + generation Latino (usually Mexican) who usually speaks neither Spanish nor English well and has lost their roots, religion and culture to a bastardized existence in the US. Pochos are often associated with gangs until they either get too old or it becomes pase’ for them, at which time they become “saved” into some fundie sect (see: above).
