Not only do I know how we can win the Presidency in 2012. I’m looking at a landslide! We’re talking about a demographic reboot that could effectively cripple the Democratic Party for decades.
Palin/Prejean 2012!
The groundwork is being laid. The latest news from Fox News is:
In a strongly worded statement released late Wednesday, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin defended Miss California Carrie Prejean and ripped into “the liberal onslaught of malicious attacks” against Prejean for her response to a question about gay marriage.
“I can relate as a liberal target myself,” Palin said. “What I find so remarkable is that these politically-motivated attacks fail to show that what Carrie and I believe is also what President Obama and Secretary Clinton believe — marriage is between a man and a woman.”
So there’s a personal connection between these two. Political partnerships have been based on far less.
So here it is. If you want the ticket that will absolutely send Sean Penn permanently to Venezuela this is it. Katie Couric, while interviewing Palin and Prejean would scream and attack them while smiling that eerie wide smile that she has, be fired from CBS, commit herself to the Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane from where she would broadcast a prime-time show on MSNBC.
Feminists, after seeing women supporting Palin/Prejean, would ask that the right to vote be temporarily taken away from women “until they came to their senses.”
Andrew Sullivan would kidnap Palin’s children to run DNA tests on them and be sent to jail where he was introduced to his cellmate Perez Hilton who was in for sneaking into Carrie Prejeans home. The two, oddly enough, wouldn’t ever want to leave their cell and would even ask to have their stay extended.
The Dems wouldn’t know what hit them. Think about it. Any time Obama/Biden opened their mouths, we could scream sexism. And you know Biden would say something really really stupid which we could pretend to be outraged about.
Think of their joint press conferences. The demographics would be huge. 18-24 year old males would be tuned into politics like never before.
I’m up for it. Don’t try to tell me that Jindal/Pawlenty has the same kind of star power. Huckabee? Too vanilla. If you want liberal Armageddon, there’s only one answer. Palin/Prejean 2012!

Funny idea. Sadly impossible, as Ms. Prejean will be Constitutionally ineligible (not yet 35 years old).

Well, Obama hasn’t proven his Constitutional eligibility either (i.e., his unwillingness to release his full birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii), so what’s the big deal?
😉

Change we need so soon.

So far, Palin seems to be the most interesting candidate for the presidential run in 2012. I like your idea, though Ms. Prejean wouldn’t be old enough to be VP. A Jindal/Pawlenty ticket sounds about as exciting as stale toast, though it may be better than what else we’re offered if Sarah Palin doesn’t run.

“unwillingness to release his full birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii”
This is getting frustrating. While he messed up the oath and had to declare a mulligan (first time in history I think) His mother was an American and thus he is eligible for the office.
“natural born citizen” is the wording in the Constitution. While that isn’t defined in the document itself it held that there are 3 modes of acquiring US citizenship: terra, consanguinity, and naturalization.
The first two are ‘natural’ methods meaning they deal with the manner or circumstance of the subject’s birth.
Terra – born on US soil
Consanguinity – born to a US citizen
Naturalization – obtaining citizenship through a process AFTER birth.
Hope that clears it up. Do pass this knowledge around. I am not a fan of Obama but this is a silly point that continually comes up and makes conservatives sound uneducated.

You’re wrong. Come on, people, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh: seriously… Obama is Constitutionally qualified to serve as President and this is precisely the kind of nonsense that is going to cost pro-life conservative candidates elections. Americans don’t want to hear quack stories about how the other guy wasn’t actually born in the U.S. when he clearly was, and they will be all too happy to tell you so in the polls.

The people who are into this not qualified thing say 1. his mother wasn’t old enough to give him citizenship-you have to be 18.
They also say that Hawaii issues or issued certificates to anyone who was living in Hawaii and applied for one, that it wasn’t something which was filled out at the hospital. They say there are people who say they know he was born in Africa.
Personally, I haven’t the faintest idea of the truth of any of this.
I don’t see any point with going on with it, as he is already president and this just isn’t going to fly.

As a Canadian I’m confused. Is this a Catholic blog or a Republican blog? Catholic and Republican are not synonomous.
As one who is pro-life myself I can only say, Boy are you folks ever damaging the pro-life cause.
We Canadians have nothing to brag about on the abortion question but at least we haven’t tangled the issue with party politics.

It’s a Matt and Pat Archbold kind of blog. We think it. It’s out there. It’s that simple.
When the David blog comes out let us know. Until then we’ll hold our breath.

I would be open to this combination, but the other way around.
Jindal has experience at least comparable to Palin’s. In addition, he is more articulate on his feet, which goes a long way in the one-on-one media confrontations that they love to trot out to make examples of people. Palin, has a family which does not fare quite as well under public scrutiny, and being second on the ticket would serve her better for now. With a bit more seasoning (and a family more accustomed to a high profile), she would eventually make an excellent choice for the big chair.
Both are strong on the social conservative core issues (as opposed to Romney, who could transform himself into a “pragmatic” pro-choicer by 2012 for all we know), and represent that which brings out the best in the GOP in recent years.
But, as Jindal himself has said, the GOP has to be a party of ideas, and if he were here, he wouldn’t be taking too much credit for anything. All the more reason to consider him eventually.

CM:
A “certification of live birth” is not the same thing as a “birth certificate.” I have a copy of each of my own, and I can assure you that one is much more telling than the other. All a COLB says is “yeah, we got it around here somewhere.” Saying that you have a thing, and SHOWING a thing, are… well, two different things.
The above should not be interpreted as a challenge to the President’s eligibility. If you are going to make a case one way or the other, this is a necessary distinction.

While that isn’t defined in the document itself it held that there are 3 modes of acquiring US citizenship: terra, consanguinity, and naturalization. As you say, the phrase is not defined in the Constitution, which is part of the reason for confusion on this issue. But regardless, Obama could put a stop to all this speculation if he simply released his birth certificate. Maybe he really was born in Hawaii, but he just wants to keep the speculation going in order to make his opposition look bad. I don’t know. My original comment wasn’t an attempt to make either side look good or bad, just an obvious reaction to the first comment about Miss Prejean’s age. 🙂
May 15, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Heck, and I was just goofing. I know that Matt and Pat know that Ms. Prejean’s too young.
See what I started? 🙁

Darn tootin’! You got us touting somebody whose main qualifications for high office are getting points in a swimsuit competition and having an opinion.
That said, “I wish they all could be California…”

Come on, people, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh:Rush has never mentioned this, and if he had, he probably would mock the people peddling it.

Good, but still not as good as the Ramos/Compean ticket I’ve been advocating.
