Conspiracy theories. Don’t like ’em.
Kennedy, grassy knoll. Nope, don’t buy it. Lone crazy commie did it.
MLK. Nope. James Earl Ray did it. (btw I am convinced that MLK would be a conservative today)
Jimmy Carter. No big rabbit, Billy spiked the punch.
Vince Foster. Nope. Clinton didn’t have it in him. No no. Hillary either. Moving on.
9/11 Truthers. Please.
Iraq invasion. We, along with everyone else, blew it on WMDs.
Obama was born…in the USA. Sorry Kenya. Actually, congrats Kenya.
Obama wrote his book “Dreams of my father”…. ummm.
Yeah. Sorry. I don’t think Obama wrote it alone. Bill Ayers helped. This is one conspiracy theory I think is actually true.
I am not going to sit here and defend my position. It is my opinion. I could be wrong but I don’t think so. You do the research. But I am telling you, Obama did not write the book alone.
Lemme be clear. I don’t intend to defend my position at all. I like the Mets, the Giants, and the Rangers. I don’t like the Phillies, the Redskins, or the Flyers. You don’t agree, tough. Opinions are like that.
So too the Obama ghostwriter. I may be wrong but I am solid in my wrongness.
So let me have it. I am ready. But before you do let me say one thing. You should hear Matthew’s opinions on Bigfoot, the chupacabra, and the Montauk monster. Just sayin’.

Well, it's not much of a conspiracy theory, but the Supreme Court has ruled that Washington will not have a nativity scene on display this Christmas season.
This was not decided on the grounds of State and Religion. Rather, it was due to a lack of resources:
They simply have not been able to find 3 wise men in the Nation's capitol, the search for a version continues, but they HAVE found enough asses to fill the stable.

I'm with you on the Mets (who, unfortunately, stopped playing baseball sometime in June, as I recall), so maybe you're on to something with the Obama/Ayers thing.
October 7, 2009 at 1:05 pm
No reason to doubt you're on to something… Maybe that specific theory isn't true, but we know very little about the Chicago Barack Obama.

As evidence that Obama didn't write his own book, see him without his teleprompter:

It's also a "conspiracy" that doesn't involve a completely complex web of accomplices to pull of, so therefore is at least plausible if not likely.
BTW, as a fellow RanGiMet sports fan (I once named a mythical city I had to create for school Rangimetknick, but I think the Knicks finally tried my patience), there is nothing more dizzying than experiencing the lows of the Mets and the highs of the Giants. Could two organizations be more fundamentally different?

You are so wrong. The Mets suck. We are Phillies fans over here.
October 7, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Rachel, Rachel….remove the chip from the shoulder. We didn't say that the Mets don't suck. We just love them nonetheless! And, further, such a willingness to believe that the Mets may actually win a pennant indicates a willingness to believe, well, just about anything….

very appropriate, anon. thanks for making my day, along with fr. dwight.

You did see that Ayers told a blogger that he did write that book?
Ayers No Dream

Sorry for the double post.

way to be a new york fan 😀 And that's not really a conspiracy theory… just an obama's less than honest theory. Oh wait, that's not a theory, that's a pretty clear fact.

Not me. He'd be Jesse Jackson today.
Iraq invasion. We, along with everyone else, blew it on WMDs.
Not me. I always thought they were lying. Still do, and can't understand why most others don't.

Because then everybody was lying. That's why the "Bush lied, people died" meme is so infuriatingly silly. If they did lie about it, it involved more people being in on the lie than about all of the other conspiracies combined.
October 7, 2009 at 6:30 pm
Paul: not to take this thread down a rabbit hole, but I don't understand you. There were plenty of journalists and others questioning the credibility of the WMD allegations. I believe a few of our European friends were roundly mocked at the time for refusing the kool-aid. True, most top-tier politicians and journalists were along for the ride. But to suggest that there were no contrary voices out there is just counter-factual.

I'm not saying there were no contrary voices – I'm saying that most top-tiered politicians (including both our previous two president AND two Vice-Presidents, Congressional leadership, intelligence committee members, etc believed that there were WMD in Iraq. It wasn't a case of mass lying by our political leadership (of both parties), but rather a case of bad intelligence and faulty assumptions.
October 7, 2009 at 7:49 pm
My opinion: The Iraqis had plenty of time to get rid of WMD's so I am not convinced there weren't any.
Believe BO was born in USA but something in birth certificate he doen't want out. Hasn't released much info because it would destroy his "smartest president ever" personna. Think Ayers is the writer not BO and Ayers is doing the smartest thing – admitting it -BUT who is going to think he is serious – certainly not the media and anyone who dares take it as truth will be mocked and ridiculed. SMART!! Gotta hand it to the guy. He got away with the bombings and wasn't someone killed and he admitted it. But he is untouchable.

But you like the Twins, too, huh. Everyone likes the Twins.
