Abby Johnson, a former Director at Planned Parenthood, who has become pro-life after witness an ultrasound abortion tells the story in her own words on Saturday’s Huckabee show.
The truth as told by Abby Johnson…
Yeah, absolutely. If clinic workers saw what was happening on that screen, they would be running out of those clinics. This is what the abortion industry does not want their workers to see. They don’t want their workers to see what’s actually happening during an abortion. That’s why Planned Parenthood doesn’t do, that’s why so many of these large abortion industries don’t do ultrasound-guided abortion procedures. They don’t want people to see what’s really happening in the woman’s womb.
The truth is the enemy of the abortion industry.

Does anyone else think that there's something strange about this story? The woman had seen ultrasound pictures of her own baby… so many people can see an ultrasound anytime they want. She probably saw endless pictures of life in the womb every day, held by protesters at her own clinic. I just don't buy the fact that they don't know this is life and killing real infants. They know it. They just tell the story this way to ease the pain of conscience, and to somehow be accepted into the ranks of moral people once they defect with a tale of their "awakening" to this fact.
They know it, and they kill anyway, for years and years and years. Pardon me if I can't so easily clap hands for her and cheer her on. Something of justice, and the restitution required of it, is missing. Does going on T.V. help? Sure. But maybe a lifetime of pro-life activity would fill the bill. Let's hope that happens.

One can see something over and over again but the image just does not register the same meaning. I have seen the consecrated host since was 7 but it means so differently now that I am much older. As the Psalmist wrote, they have eyes but cannot see. Ps. 115

We are capable as a species of ignoring an injustice if we think or we have told ourselves that a high prinicple is at stake –or that opposing it would put our own selves at risk. People walked by slavery. People walked by the exploitation of people. People walked by the occupations of homes and the evictions of families. People, real people walked by the No Irish need apply and walked by the segregated water fountains. People walked by sexism. Why do we think that we cannot be blind to evil or blind to good? We must pray for all of us to have the grace that we might see and ears that we might hear.

Anonymous I'm with you here. On the surface, this sounds like a great story which vindicates the pro-life cause. But as you say, there is something very fishy here. Remember: Abby Johnson is an Episcopalian, which means according to her and her church abortion is not a sin to begin with. And I love how she was so resolute to leave, yet she "needed the money" so she went back for 2 more weeks.
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Questioning someone's conversion is a tricky business.
November 9, 2009 at 12:57 pm
I don't question her conversion, but I am not joining in the fanfare either.
Why is this a grand story, but the Baptist man who has been going to the local slaughter house for 17 years praying alongside Catholics gets no coverage?
God bless Abby for doing the right thing, but the hoopla is not needed, thank you very much.
Mercy.

Agree with Anonymous 7:21. Sounds not only tricky but risky, as well.

Conversion is a process not an event. Abby, as an Episcopalian, is free to believe that abortion is justifiable homicide, something she has probably believed for some time. Her problems with PP began when she was basically coerced into soliciting more women to have abortions to increase their profits. She may not completely believe that abortion is all that evil–yet. She is learning and God is revealing things to her that she can handle. Soon enough, through prayers, she will have a complete conversion. In short, she's not completely convinced that Planned Parenthood is Satan….but she will soon see. Thank you Jesus, Mary, and Joseph for opening Abby Johnson's eyes, ears, and heart.

It's true that conversion is a process. When I decided that God existed in 1994, my eyes were opened a little. In 2002 when I began going regularly to confession, my eyes were opened much more widely. She has just started down the road to an interior conversion towards Jesus. No one can expect her to be fully and completely there, especially if she isn't receiving the sacraments.

A special thanks to Abby Johnson, the ex-director of the Bryan Texas Planned Parenthood office on 29th Street:
Abby Johnson now encourages thinking and loving individuals to place a special value on others who are (also humans made in the image of God) and in the same stage of development that "They were"!
The thoughts that dance in the mind of humans, is conceived in their heart and hinges on the pivotal question that ushers in the undeserved "Death penalty" for the unborn; or the joyous excitement, anticipating the soon coming birth of a child.
The question that answers the complex motive for a person's actions after conception is "Is the pregnancy and baby wanted or rejected by one or both parents (or families) of the child"?!!!
And if most women-with-child was loved by the child's father,
she would smile and happily say "No abortion" why bother.
Ask God and the person you mated with to forgive you,
forgive yourself and live the abundant life.
