There has been a lot of commentary on Glenn Beck’s “restoring honor” rally in Washington this past weekend. President Obama ignored it. Newscasters spun it. And people argued over the size of it.
But hands down, the silliest thing anyone has said on this topic (and maybe any topic) comes from the politically liberal commentator Bill Press.
As the topic turned to the rally, it was noted that most of the rally focused on a return to God and patriotism.
Speaking on CNN, Press said that speaking about God in a ‘sacred’ space like the Lincoln Memorial is ‘inappropriate.’…

There is so much cognitive deadwood among the mainstream media that it is like an enormous beaver dam blocking any semblance of critical analysis.. Bill Press' remarks bespeaks difficulty in even framing his thought correctly. It ranks up there with the utterances of Goofy and Pluto, Heckle and Jeckle.

Maybe Lincoln meant Allah, and that's why this "day of prayer" was diabolical? Because they were praying to the Christian God? Maybe we should replace the Lincoln Memorial with a Mosque too? No, that wouldn't work, it wasn't close enough to the Pentagon…
So, I'd like to know when the term "Would you like fries with that?" was replaced by "On tonight's evening news," as the type of job you could expect from a go nowhere degree.
Journalism is dead folks! Long live the blogosphere!

So true, PattyinCT, journalism is alive and well only in the blogosphere, which is why, I suppose, this "administraton" is itching to crack down on the Internet. Shades of Venezuela, et al…keep the truth away from the masses.
Another thought that comes to my mind, is all the leftist, liberal idiots seem to have such a problem with God, wouldn't you just love to be an eavesdropper on their judgement day? Wonder what talking points they'll use then.

Sadly, this isn't the dumbest thing Bill Press has ever said – or written. He's quite the numbskull.

I'm not here to defend the Left, but I always had some problems with Glenn Beck's type of quasi religious-politcal boosterism. I understand perfectly his intent; this nation will not begin to reform itself politically until it does so spiritually. However, if a person or couple does not "return to God" by the admonishment of his/her preacher, rabbi, minister, or priest what are the chances Beck's form of evangelization will be able to?
Glenn Beck does hit an expoxed nerve in our society, which was created by a theological-spiritual vaccum brought upon by the secularization of our churches. But, at the same time I do not like his mixing of religion and politics. And I know he certainly upset some in the RCC concerning his views on "social justice". Beck at times makes good points. But he cannot seem to decide if he is evangelzing or campaigning. "Religion" is never as simple as people make it out to be. And niether is politics. But thier confection can be simply poisonous if not handled properly. It is too bad more priests do not fill the void.
