Yup. President Obama who was supposed to heal the country’s divisions just called some Americans “enemies.” Guess which ones? Republicans. Yup. Enemies.
This is disgusting.
Kathryn Jean Lopez asks: “Did the President of the United States Describe Some Americans as Enemies?”
Via The Hill:
Latino voters, the president said, would have an opportunity to send a message to Republicans, who Obama accused of “politicizing” immigration reform and the border security debate. Obama said “pressure has to be put on the Republican Party” if immigration reform is to become a reality.
“And if Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, we’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they don’t see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it’s gonna be harder — and that’s why I think it’s so important that people focus on voting on November 2,” he said.
This is the President who doesn’t call the Taliban an enemy but anyone who’s against amnesty is an enemy of Latinos?
This is so wrong on many levels in that the country is at war and The PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES is calling half the country “enemies.” And it’s also playing to the racial divides which harm this country. I can’t get over how awful this is. It puts the party label over that which unites us which should be that we’re all Americans.
President George Washington warned of the dangers of political parties. He warned:
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.
Hmmmm…
Update: Hot Air just put up a story on the same subject worth reading.

See what he says when he's speaking off the cuff without a teleprompter?
Who care what you think anyway, all of you extremist right wing Catholic bloggers are a part of the "Catholic Taliban" anyway – just ask John Allen over at National Catholic Reporter.

I haven't heard him refer to the Muslims who terrorized this country as enemies who deserve punishment. Now why is that?
Also, I have taught Christian religion for around 20 years and never have I had a lesson where I taught the kids to punish their enemies. Obama claimed to be a Christian but I don't know if there is ever a sect, denomination or faction that holds what he just asked a group of people to do.
Third, isn't he supposed to unite people? What is he doing promoting discord? You can take the hoodlum out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the hoodlum.

I wonder why in the world, with Democrats controlling both Congress and the White House, fully capable of shoving through health care reform that on one wants, how it is that "Republicans" are interfering with immigration reform.
How is it that Republicans are the enemies here?
Latinos are being used like tissues and it really makes me feel like I want to spit up as my Nonnie used to say.

This man, who has declared that loyal Americans are his enemies, needs to be legally removed from office. But I don't think the Senate will stand up to the threats.

And on the matter of immigration, I cite my favorite entry from the CCC:
2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.
Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.

Bill, the fact of the matter is that the Vatican, let alone the American bishops, don't give a rip about what the CCC says concerning immigration. They are de facto advocates of open borders. Forget the bishops in this country; just look at how European bishops (especially in Belgium) have been bending over backwards to accomodate Muslims:

As far as Pres. Obama is concerned, all he's doing is spouting the typical rhetoric all "progressives" spout when confronted on issue. Those who don't think like they do are considered evil. There's not much difference between Obama's rhetoric and the Stalinist phrase, "enemy of the people."
This man and all those who think like him should be voted out of office ASAP.

"President George Washington warned of the dangers of political parties."
This and the ensuing quote are the reason I swore off parties.
…At least parties with platforms.
…At least the ones where the platforms aren't holding up kegs of good beer.

He thinks other Americans are his enemies – we already knew that.

I love how these right wing bloogers post their lies and never offer any ind of evidence to support the claims they make in their blogs but then why should they let annoyances like facts and the truth get in the way of the lies they spew. Note to self right wing extremist Christians making up lies to further their agenda not very christian like.
October 26, 2010 at 4:31 pm
bryan,,,, Could you please tell me what the right wing blogger said and offered no proof of?
By claiming someone is doing something and not offering proof of what you say they are doing you are doing what you claim they are doing.

Yes Brian where is YOUR evidence?

What a race baiter. So much for hope and change and love… by urging political opponents to hate each other he proves himself (again) a total fraud.
You've been had. Don't be fooled again.

Hey guys take it easy on little Bryan, ventriloquist dummies are pretty fragile. He's likely gone back to seek advise from his handlers or his string broke!
Keep the faith!

He didn't call Republican's enemies. He said that Republican's are enemies to Latinos. Always a slant. And you say Obama is bad.
