A gay rights groups doesn’t like the new Confession App for helping people prepare to confess their sins. In fact, they’re furious over it. Now that I’m thinking about it, have you read anything about a gay rights group in the past decade where they weren’t furious? Even when they win, they’re furious that they didn’t win more or earlier. Shouldn’t a “furious gay group” be an oxymoron?
In this case it’s not Apps they’re furious about, it’s the sin. (But isn’t it always.)
The Guardian reports:
The launch of an iPhone app that guides Catholics through confession has prompted a furious response from gay rights groups, who accuse it of “promoting anti-gay spiritual abuse”.
“Confession: A Roman Catholic App”, which costs £1.19 from the Apple iTunes store, has shot to 26 in the download charts, behind Sims 3 and Resident Evil 4: Platinum….
Among the questions users are asked is: “Have I been guilty of any homosexual activity?”
Wayne Besen, executive director of Truth Wins Out, a group that campaigns on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people, accused the app of “helping to create neurotic individuals who are ashamed of who they are”.
“This is cyber spiritual abuse that promotes backward ideas in a modern package,” said Besen. “Gay Catholics don’t need to confess, they need to come out of the closet and challenge anti-gay dogma. The false idea that being gay is something to be ashamed of has destroyed too many lives. This iPhone app is facilitating and furthering the harm.”
Do these folks understand that they don’t have to buy the App?
Remember that while making their big push for gay marriage they’d always say that nobody’s forcing straight people to marry a gay person so why do straight people care? Well, using that logic, nobody’s forcing gay people to go to Confession or to buy an App to prepare them for it.
But you see, they don’t even want you to be able to think it. They want the Catholic view to be driven from the mainstream by the force of their feigned fury. So they’re going to create a stink and see if they can get it taken off the market just like they did the Manhattan Declaration App that was supposedly anti-gay because it didn’t approve of gay marriage. It worked before for them and they’re going to keep on doing it until it doesn’t work anymore.
At some point they’re going to have to be stood up to. Why not make it now? Seriously, I know many Christians who think maybe it’s time for us to get furious. But I’d so much rather be gay. (I mean that in the old sense of the word.)

It's none of their darned business what Catholic doctrine is.
If you're offended by the iPhone app, don't buy it.

Oh you poor foolish gays. Don't you see that you are acting contrary top the love of God and the order of nature?
February 14, 2011 at 3:54 am
They don't have to buy the app, indeed! Has anyone ever told them that there are prayer books all over God's Green Earth that ask the very same question? Burn 'em all (the books, I mean!).

I noticed that the "gays" responded to the idea that being gay and gay activity is the same thing, conveniently overlooking the exercise of free will in "gay activity" as opposed to being born "gay". It is my understanding that all children go through a same-sex attraction at puberty. Most arrive at maturity as heterosexuals. Some get caught up in arrested development. Homosexual, same-sex attraction was diagnosed as arrested development by the American Psychiatric Association until the Assn. was froced by the North American Man Boy Love Assn. and other militant gay groups to change it's diagnosis to "NORMAL" . Mob mentality running amok. As a person, gays are fine and welcome, as practioners of deviant behavior they must repent. Becoming the largest customer for the iPhone app is the best thing for all.

We're under full scale attack people. Hasn't anyone heard Lady GaGa's "Born This Way" this week?
We are under direct assault, our worldview, our values, our way of life is under threat.

Oh. My. Goodness. Seriously. What panty-waists.

"I'm beautiful in my way,
'Cause God makes no mistakes
I'm on the right track, baby
I was born this way"
Tripe. Nonsense. If this has anything to do with gays, then guess what: God did not make you that way at all. You did.
Romans 1:28: "And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense"

"Born this way"
Born what way? To act contrary to nature? To use another human being for physical gratification only, completely divorced from the life giving power of sexual intercourse?
Why is it called sexual intercourse? Because it is intercourse between the sexes. The sexual appetite in mankind serves to fulfill the command of "Be fruitful and multiply", but you gays reject that command. Your intercourse is irrational.
In his description of the unnatural passions that rule over the sodomite, St. Peter Damian reveals an extraordinary degree of perception regarding the narcissistic, promiscuous and compulsive psychosexual aspects of homosexual behavior.
"Tell us, you unmanly and effeminate man, what do you seek in another male that you do not find in yourself?" he asks. "What difference in sex, what varied features of the body?" he continues.
Then he explains the law of life. "For it is the function of the natural appetite that each should seek outside himself what he cannot find in his own capacity. Therefore, if the touch of masculine flesh delights you, lay your hands upon yourself and be assured that whatever you do not find in yourself, you seek in vain in the body of another," he concludes.

Gay groups outraged by traditional morality. Yawn. In other news, water is wet.

Perhaps they would do better to expose them as being non-Catholic heretical apostate pedophiles. Because that is what they truly are.

I love it when the truth "infuriates" people, especially the sexual deviants. Don't ever back down from Catholic truth but declare it in all charity. The enemies of the Church want to destroy it by a thousand cuts and this is one way they are trying to do it. If you want to see what these people are up to, navigate over to World Net Daily and find the article about what the "born this way" cult is up to in California, led by a "gay" congressman. Don't eat before you read it.

Whether someone would be born to want to behave in a way that works against the continuation of the species is beyond me. I'm more concerned with the fact that these people complain about close-mindedness to their way all the time but want to shut down an app that holds a truth that by that quote they really don't understand at all.

Small point, but I think you mean "redundant" instead of "oxymoronic"
February 14, 2011 at 3:19 pm
No Ben. I make a lot of mistakes but that is not one of them.

The question on the app asks about homosexual acts. It does not say they should be ashamed or not to be homosexual. The homosexual ACT is what needs to be confessed, since it goes against Church teaching.
February 14, 2011 at 4:35 pm
Just to remind everyone, that while homosexual activity is sinful and we must hold and declare that truth and all truth at all times:
"The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. . . They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity." (CCC 2358)
There is a difference between teaching against a behavior and railing against people who engage in that behavior due to their concupiscence and sinfulness. We love them, just as Christ does, even in the midst of their sin, even if they hate us. Check the Gospel reading for this coming Sunday (Matthew 5:38-48).

I was pretty sure that this protest would come sooner or later, as soon as I saw the question about homosexual behavior in Fr. Z's review of the confession app.

Don't they realize that "being furious" is one of the seven deadlies (wrath)? 🙂

There are many printed guides to the sacrament of penance which contain lists of questions to aid Catholics in examining their conscience. And many of these lists include a question about homosexual activity. This iPhone app is pretty much just a fancy computerized version of these existing materials. So will the homosexual lobby be railing against printed confession guides next?
